The 5th edition of "et pop ! au château" will take place from September 18th to 20th, 2026, at the Le Viking cinema in Le Neubourg, utilizing both the main hall and the courtyard during the European Heritage and Matrimony Days. The program features five performances and four musical impromptus, all free of charge, centered on the theme "Legacies of the Future."

5th Edition — "et pop ! au château" 2026

For its fifth year, the festival is moving from the gardens of the Vieux-Château to the Le Viking cinema, located at 68 rue de la République. Events will be held in the main hall and the courtyard from Friday, September 18th to Sunday, September 20th, 2026, coinciding with the European Heritage and Matrimony Days.

"Legacies of the Future"

This year's theme is "Legacies of the Future." The Compagnie Asphalte poses the question: what actions can we invent to pass on our tangible and intangible heritage to future generations?

The Five Performances

The musical theater piece Un verre à soi by Claire Barrabès opens the festival on Friday evening as part of the Matrimony Days program. This will be followed by the object theater performance Robot (for ages 3+), the dance-lecture Des danses et des luttes by Bouziane Bouteldja, the concert-performance Mozart et nous : fantaisie radiophonique by Célimène Daudet and Anna Sigalevitch, and the talk Traité de la boule de cristal by David Wahl, who returns to Le Neubourg following his appearances in 2024 and 2025.

The Four Impromptus

The impromptus will take place in the cinema courtyard in 20-minute sets with no ticket required: tenor Benjamin Alunni accompanied by cellist Lucien Debon, followed by Claire-Marie Bronx and Raphaël Di Vita as "Baronne du Bronx."

A public workshop will be held on Thursday, September 17th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where participants will dance on stage with the Dan6T company during Des danses et des luttes. Admission is free upon registration at [email protected], subject to availability.

The festival bar, featuring Cidre de Corneille, and the bookshop will be open in the cinema courtyard throughout the day.

The festival features a mix of ticketed performances and free impromptu shows. Guest companies arrive from across France and abroad; the 2026 lineup includes Collectif sur le pont, Cie Chamarbellclochette (Switzerland), Cie Dan6T, Cie Incipit, and the Grand Théâtre de Provence. The programme includes musical theatre, object theatre for toddlers, dance-lectures, concert-shows, and talks. The free impromptu performances are short sets held in the courtyard, ranging from opera singing to cabaret.
