International festival of world music, songs, dances, and cultures
The Festival InterFolk 48 is an international festival of world music, songs, dances, and cultures organized every summer in Langogne by the association Les Fadarelles. For four days in July, folk groups from all continents perform at the Langogne multipurpose hall, offering spectators a true cultural world tour. Created in the early 2000s in partnership with the Festival International InterFolk du Puy-en-Velay, this event has become a must-see in the cultural life of Lozère.
The Festival InterFolk 48 is a unique annual event in Lozère, dedicated to the discovery of world music, songs, dances, and cultures. Organized by the association Les Fadarelles, in cooperation with the Festival International InterFolk du Puy-en-Velay, this event brings together folk groups from all over the planet every summer in Langogne.
The festival takes place over four consecutive evenings in July. Each evening, a different folk group, representing a specific country and culture, performs at the Langogne multipurpose hall. The shows feature traditional dances, popular songs, and instrumental music in spectacular traditional costumes, offering the audience a complete change of scenery and an immersion into sometimes age-old traditions.
Over the years, the festival has hosted groups from Colombia, Congo, Slovakia, Malaysia, Georgia, Mexico, China, Indonesia, Turkey, and many other countries, creating a true mosaic of world cultures.
InterFolk 48 is more than just a series of performances. It is a special moment for intercultural encounters and exchanges between international artists and the inhabitants of Langogne and its region. During their stay, the folk groups participate in local life, sometimes perform at markets or during community events, and share their culture beyond the stage.
The association Les Fadarelles is the driving force behind the festive and cultural life of Langogne. In addition to InterFolk 48, it organizes numerous events throughout the year: the carnival, Christmas festivities, Festiv'Allier (a festival of French song and street arts), and other events that animate the town of Haut-Allier. Its volunteer commitment contributes to the dynamism and cultural influence of Langogne in Lozère.
The programming of the Festival InterFolk 48 is established in cooperation with the Festival International InterFolk du Puy-en-Velay, a benchmark festival for international folklore in Auvergne. This partnership allows Langogne to benefit from high-quality programming, with groups selected from the best folk ensembles in the world, while being part of a network of recognized folk festivals nationally and internationally.
The 25th edition of the Festival InterFolk 48 is expected in July 2026 at the Langogne multipurpose hall. Four evenings of international folk performances with groups from all continents to celebrate world music, songs, dances, and cultures.
