Live arts under a big top in the Sundgau
Since 2007, the Pot'Arts Festival transforms the Tagolsheim leisure area into an artistic village under a circus tent every September. For three days, this multidisciplinary event in the Sundgau region blends music, circus, theater, storytelling, humor, and poetry in a warm and rustic atmosphere. A circus company sets up its tent and opens it to invited artists before presenting its own show, creating a unique encounter between circus arts and world music.
The Pot'Arts Festival was born in 2007 in Tagolsheim, a village in the Sundgau region of southern Haut-Rhin. The concept is original: every year in September, a circus company sets up its big top at the Tagolsheim leisure area and makes it available to invited artists before presenting its own show. This unique formula creates an encounter between circus arts and world music, in a rustic and intimate setting, far from the hustle and bustle of large venues.
For three days, the Pot'Arts Festival offers a different program each evening, allowing the public to discover talented artists and captivating performances. The festival stands out for its mix of genres and cultures: world music, gypsy jazz, salsa, Cuban son, swing, but also circus, theater, storytelling, readings, and poetic improvisation. Each edition is a unique musical journey, true to the spirit of openness and curiosity that has driven the festival since its beginnings.
Throughout its editions, the Pot'Arts Festival has hosted internationally renowned artists. The 2025 edition notably featured Ibrahim Ferrer Jr, heir to the legendary singer of the Buena Vista Social Club, who revives the soul of Cuban son with his warm voice and infectious rhythms. Sonando, an ambassador of salsa and Afro-Cuban music, promised a feverish and danceable atmosphere. Le Mystère Trio, a virtuoso ensemble blending gypsy jazz, swing, and world music, completed this eclectic lineup. Previous editions had hosted the Florin Niculescu Quartet (a tribute to Stéphane Grappelli) and Piers Faccini.
The Pot'Arts Festival takes place in September, when the Sundgau region is adorned with the colors of the Indian summer. The big top, set up in the middle of the Alsatian countryside, creates an atmosphere that is both intimate and magical. Around the performance area, a friendly space with a bar and food allows spectators to extend the evening, in a spirit of meeting and sharing. This rural setting, away from urbanization, gives the festival a unique charm and an authenticity that loyal festival-goers rediscover with joy each year.
