The street arts festival in Roissy Pays de France and Seine-et-Marne
Festival Primo is the flagship event of Le Moulin Fondu, one of France's twelve National Centers for Street Arts and Public Spaces (CNAREP), located in Villeparisis, Seine-et-Marne. Every year from September to October, this traveling festival spreads across the towns of the Roissy Pays de France agglomeration community and neighboring territories, transforming public spaces into live performance stages.
Le Moulin Fondu was awarded CNAREP status by the Ministry of Culture for its mission to support artistic creation in public spaces. Based in Villeparisis, it supports resident companies, produces shows, and develops participatory projects with residents. Festival Primo is the highlight of its annual programming, showcasing contemporary street arts creation.
The festival's programming is distinguished by its artistic diversity. Contemporary circus, giant puppets, aerial acrobatics, street dance, walkabout theater, sound performances, and interactive installations take over market squares, parks, schoolyards, and shopping streets. All performances are free and open access, true to the philosophy of street arts which promotes the accessibility of culture for all.
Primo places great importance on the young audience, with shows accessible from age 2. Families form the core audience of the festival, attracted by fun and poetic artistic offerings that delight young and old alike. Participatory workshops also allow spectators to become participants, joyfully blurring the line between stage and audience.
The festival unfolds in several towns in northern Seine-et-Marne and southern Val-d'Oise, including Villeparisis, Dammartin-en-Goële, Mitry-Mory, and other towns in the agglomeration. This itinerant nature allows it to reach audiences who do not always have access to cultural facilities and to create festive events in neighborhoods far from traditional cultural offerings.
The Primo Festival returns from September 12th to October 11th, 2026, in the municipalities of Roissy Pays de France for its 8th edition of free street arts. Circus, puppetry, street theatre, dance, and performances will take over the public spaces of Villeparisis, Dammartin-en-Goële, and neighbouring towns.
