About FLASH - Fontenay-sous-Bois Photography Festival
FLASH is a social and civic photography festival founded in 2024 by Émilie Chazelle and Margaux Hannart. Supported by the Nouvelles Scènes association and rooted in Fontenay-sous-Bois (Val-de-Marne), it brings together artists, local residents, and educational and social organizations. Exhibitions are held at the NEF - Halle Roublot, a former market hall transformed into a vibrant exhibition space.
Each edition features an artistic program focused on peripheral territories, a participatory exhibition created with local residents, and a special project developed in collaboration with the municipal archives.
FLASH - Fontenay-sous-Bois Photography Festival — edition 2026
For its inaugural edition, FLASH presents three exhibitions at the NEF - Halle Roublot from September 18 to November 7, 2026: Trajectoire(s), which brings together twelve contemporary artists to explore peripheral territories; Banlieue en fête!, a collection built from the personal photographs of Fontenay-sous-Bois residents; and Fragments d'une histoire collective, drawn from the city's municipal archives.

Trajectoire(s)
Twelve contemporary artists explore peripheral territories—from the Parisian suburbs to Brazilian favelas, and from Casablanca to Seoul—through photography, film, installations, and artist books. Featured artists: Carolina Arantes, Sabrina Belouaar, Mohamed Bourouissa, Laïs Decaster, Hicham Gardaf, Marjorie Gosset, Gil Lesage, Anne Mocaër, Adriana Pagliai, Léa Rivera-Hadjes, Sandra Rocha, and Rio Saito.
Banlieue en fête !
A participatory exhibition built from the personal photographs of Fontenay-sous-Bois residents, capturing weddings, birthdays, neighborhood parties, school fairs, meals, and intimate celebrations. The collection of photographs from residents concluded on June 15, 2026.
Fragments d'une histoire collective
An exhibition curated in collaboration with the Fontenay-sous-Bois municipal archives, spanning from the late 19th century to the early 21st century: childhood festivities, the Fête de la Madelon, sports competitions, parades, flea markets, petitions, and inaugurations.
All three exhibitions are held at the NEF - Halle Roublot from September 18 to November 7, 2026. Admission is free. The schedule for associated events (workshops, tours, and meet-ups) has not yet been released by the organizers.
