The Gagny Grape Harvest Festival
Gagny, in the Seine-Saint-Denis department, hosts its annual two-day grape harvest festival at the start of autumn. The city's Events and Ceremonies department organizes the festivities at Parc Courbet, a 33,000 m² green space located on Chemin des Bourdons, as well as in the streets of the town center.
The parade and grape pressing
On Saturday afternoon, a parade of floats decorated by local associations and municipal staff sets off from the Stade de l'Est, traveling through the city with music until it reaches Parc Courbet. Mayor Rolin Cranoly officially opens the festival and performs the traditional grape pressing alongside the Harvest Queen. The freshly pressed juice is then offered to the public for tasting.
The titles of Harvest Queen and King are awarded each year by the Harvest Queen and King Committee to local Gagny residents aged 18 to 22 who apply for the honor.
The market and entertainment
A market featuring wine producers and regional goods runs throughout both days in the park's pathways, complete with tastings. Visitors can also enjoy fairground rides and stalls, booths from local associations, stage performances, and various food and drink options. A traditional guinguette dance is held at Place Foch on Saturday evening.
