Boron: A Village Between Forests and Tradition
The village of Boron (90100) is one of the most characteristic municipalities in the Sud-Territoire de Belfort. With its 488 inhabitants, known as Boronais, this village is part of the Sud-Territoire Community of Communes and administered by Mayor Dominique Tréla. Its geographical peculiarity is remarkable: three-quarters of its territory is covered by deciduous forests, offering an exceptional natural setting and rich forest biodiversity.
A Village of Progressive Independence
Boron's history is one of gradual emancipation. In the Middle Ages, the village was attached to the commune and parish of Grosne. It was only in the 19th century that Boron gained its parochial independence, marked by the construction of its church dedicated to Saint Luke. This monument, at the heart of the village, is a strong identity marker for the Boronais community and testifies to the inhabitants' desire to forge their own history.
The patronal festival of Saint Luke, celebrated on October 18th, is one of the annual occasions for community gathering. The summer festival, organized in the summer by the festival committee, is the other major event in Boron's festive life.
The Summer Festival of Boron
The Boron festival committee, under the impetus of the municipal council, organizes the annual communal festival every summer, bringing together residents and visitors from neighboring communes. In the spirit of Franche-Comté village festivals, this celebration combines conviviality, entertainment for all ages, and sharing around a table.
Boron's forest setting gives the festival a particularly pleasant natural backdrop in the summer: the large deciduous forests surrounding the village offer shade and coolness, creating an intimate and green atmosphere ideal for an outdoor celebration.
Festival Program
- Children's entertainment in the village's green setting
- Pétanque competition open to residents and visitors
- Refreshment stand with regional beers and cold drinks
- Food with Franche-Comté specialties
- Village meal or collective barbecues under the trees
- Dancing evening with music
The Forest as Boron's Identity
In a territory where forests occupy three-quarters of the space, the relationship between the inhabitants and nature is particularly strong. The Fête de Boron often takes place in areas in direct contact with the surrounding forest, recalling the ancestral link between this village and its woodlands. Forest walks are a natural activity for visitors who take advantage of the festival to explore the surroundings of Boron.
