The summer festival of Bretagne, village of the Territoire de Belfort on the banks of the Rhône-Rhin canal
The Fête de Bretagne celebrates every summer this village of 314 inhabitants in the Territoire de Belfort, located at the confluence of the Madeleine and the Saint-Nicolas river, near the Rhône-Rhin canal. Not to be confused with the region of Brittany, this village in the canton of Grandvillars organizes its annual festival in a green setting, bringing together residents and visitors for friendly entertainment and a moment of summer sharing.
The village of Bretagne (90130), a commune in the Territoire de Belfort, has no connection with the Breton region of western France: it is a commune in the canton of Grandvillars, attached to the Communauté de Communes Grandvillars-Territoire. Located 12 km southeast of Belfort, this village of 314 inhabitants – called Brettains – is situated at the confluence of the Madeleine and the Saint-Nicolas river, near the Rhône-Rhin canal, a historic waterway that crosses the south of the Territoire de Belfort.
The commune of Bretagne benefits from a particularly pleasant natural environment, with the presence of two rivers and the canal. The wetlands and floodplains along these waterways constitute precious natural spaces for local fauna and flora. This green and aquatic setting offers an exceptional backdrop for the summer festival.
The proximity of the Rhône-Rhin canal is a reminder that the Territoire de Belfort is crossed by a historic waterway that connected the Mediterranean to the North Sea, and that the landscapes of the Doubs plain offer high-quality natural spaces.
The festival committee of Bretagne, supported by Mayor Vincent Freard elected in 2020, organizes the communal festival every summer, bringing together the village residents and their neighbors from surrounding communes. This festival is an opportunity to strengthen social bonds and celebrate the village's identity in a friendly atmosphere.
On the program for this summer festival:
The geographical location of Bretagne, halfway between Belfort and the Swiss border (Porrentruy is about twenty kilometers away), gives this village a strategic position in the network of rural communes in the Territoire de Belfort. Its proximity to Montreux-Château, Novillard, and Grosne makes it a well-integrated village in the local fabric.
The associative life of Bretagne is representative of the vitality of rural communes in the Territoire de Belfort: local associations, the festival committee, and committed volunteers contribute to maintaining the quality of village life and organizing festive events awaited by the entire community.
The Fête de Bretagne 2026 will offer family entertainment, pétanque, a communal meal, and a festive evening to bring together residents and visitors of this village in the Territoire de Belfort.
The Fête de Bretagne 2026 will take place in July in this beautiful village of the Territoire de Belfort, on the banks of the Rhône-Rhin canal. Children's entertainment, pétanque, a refreshment stand, a shared meal, and a dancing evening are on the program. Detailed program coming soon.
