The annual festival of the Campinois, on the banks of the Marne
Every summer, the town of Champigny-sur-Marne – one of the largest municipalities in the Val-de-Marne with its 80,000 inhabitants – organizes its grand annual popular festival. This unmissable event brings together the Campinois and their families for a day of sharing, music, entertainment, and conviviality, often on the banks of the Marne, which are one of the town's major natural assets.
Champigny-sur-Marne has a rich identity, shaped by its close relationship with the river and the working-class and popular history of the Val-de-Marne. The Marne, which borders the town for several kilometers, offers an idyllic setting for summer festivities. The town is also known for its municipal vineyard, one of the few urban vineyards in Île-de-France, whose grape harvest is celebrated every autumn.
The Fête de Champigny offers a generous program each year:
The Fête de Champigny is part of an ambitious cultural policy supported by the municipality. The town has quality cultural facilities: the Théâtre des Promenades, several media libraries, exhibition spaces, and numerous artistic practice rooms. The annual festival complements this panorama by offering everyone free access to culture and the arts.
The town is also active in sports, with many clubs and associations that take advantage of the festival to promote their activities and recruit new members.
The banks of the Marne have always been the preferred setting for Champigny's festivities. These popular swimming and leisure spots inspired the Impressionist painters in the 19th century. Today, they welcome walkers, cyclists, and festival-goers throughout the summer, in a preserved natural setting just a few kilometers from Paris.
