Courtelevant: A Medieval Village in the Sud-Territoire
The village of Courtelevant (90100) is a commune in the canton of Delle, in the Sud-Territoire de Belfort. With its 388 inhabitants, known as Courtelevanais, this village benefits from a privileged geographical location, 7 km from Delle and 27 km from Belfort. The commune has its own village hall, a testament to the active community life that animates the village throughout the year.
A Village with a Long Past
Courtelevant's history is particularly ancient in this sector of the Territoire de Belfort. The village's name is of medieval origin: it is said to derive from the Latin "curtis" combined with the Germanic name "Hilbung". More concretely, Courtelevant already had a church in 1262, making it one of the oldest documented villages in the Territoire de Belfort. This historical heritage gives Courtelevant a strong identity and a special attachment to its traditions.
Parish life has structured the village for centuries, and the annual communal festival today perpetuates a tradition of community gathering whose roots lie in the medieval history of this land.
The Fête de Courtelevant
The Courtelevant festival committee organizes the annual village festival every summer, a moment eagerly awaited by the entire community. In keeping with the tradition of Franche-Comté village festivals, this celebration brings together children, families, and elders around a convivial festive program.
- Activities for children and outdoor games
- Village pétanque competition
- Refreshment stand with regional beers and cold drinks
- Catering with Franche-Comté and local specialties
- Shared meal or collective barbecues
- Dancing evening with orchestra or DJ
The Courtelevant Village Hall
The village has a village hall that hosts communal events. This facility allows for the organization of festivals in good conditions, even in case of bad weather, and contributes to the quality of the entertainment offered during the annual festival.
Courtelevant in the Sud-Territoire Network
The Communauté de Communes Sud-Territoire, of which Courtelevant is a part, brings together many villages in the south of the department. This membership allows Courtelevant to benefit from collective dynamics and shared services. The communal festival is an opportunity to strengthen ties between the inhabitants of neighboring communes, in a spirit of solidarity and sharing characteristic of the rural areas of Franche-Comté.
