The Fête de Faverois: Summer celebration of an agricultural village in the Sud Territoire

Faverois (90100) is a commune in the Territoire de Belfort with 561 inhabitants, the Faveroisiens, spread over 6.54 km² in the Sud Territoire. Enclaved between the communes of Joncherey to the south, Grandvillars to the north, and Suarce to the west, Faverois is a village with a strong rural identity, whose agricultural lands cover the majority of the communal territory.

The town hall is located at 1 Rue de Suarce (tel. 03 84 36 05 16), and the commune has a village hall that hosts the main local events. Every summer, the commune organizes its popular festival, a unifying moment eagerly awaited by all residents.

The Faverois Festival Committee

The Comité des Fêtes de Faverois is the volunteer association responsible for organizing the summer festival. These men and women, who dedicate part of their free time to animating their village, ensure logistics, decoration, catering, and musical entertainment. Their efforts help keep alive a precious festive tradition in this small agricultural village.

The commune also organizes an annual flea market, which attracts bargain hunters and collectors from all over the region (particularly on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.), demonstrating the associative vitality of Faverois despite its small size.

A day of celebration for the whole village

The Fête de Faverois takes place over one day, usually in July:

  • Children's entertainment: inflatable games, wooden games, pony rides, creative workshops, and kermesse games
  • Petanque tournament: highly appreciated by residents, it brings together local teams and teams from neighboring communes
  • Refreshments and catering: barbecues, sausages and fries, savory pies, cold drinks, and local beer
  • Outdoor meal: a large, friendly meal served outdoors or under a marquee, at an affordable price for everyone
  • Musical evening and dance: local band or DJ to end the day with music and dancing

Faverois, a village at the heart of the Sud Territoire terroir

The commune of Faverois has an ancient agricultural tradition. Its green meadows and cultivated fields form the typical landscape of the Sud Territoire, an agricultural area that contrasts with the industrial and urban areas of the north of the department. The annual festival is an opportunity to celebrate this rural way of life and to strengthen solidarity among the farmers, artisans, and families that make up this village.

The proximity to the Swiss border and to the communes of the Communauté de communes du Sud Territoire influences living habits, with many cross-border workers returning to their native village on weekends to participate in these moments of conviviality.

An event that unites generations

As in all villages in the Territoire de Belfort, the summer festival of Faverois is the prime time for generations to come together. The village elders reconnect with their habits and childhood friends, active adults enjoy a well-deserved moment of relaxation, and children discover the simple pleasures of authentic village festivals.
