The summer festival of the village of Tilleul de Turenne
The Fête de Fontaine is the annual festive event of this historic village in the Territoire de Belfort, famous for its Tilleul de Turenne (Turenne's Linden tree). Every summer, the festival committee brings together residents and visitors for family activities, games, a country meal, and an evening of conviviality. A living tradition in this charming town located 13 km from Belfort, at the gateway to the Alsatian Sundgau.
The village of Fontaine (90150) holds a special place in the history of the Territoire de Belfort. It was here, in the shade of the famous Tilleul de Turenne, that Marshal Turenne stopped before winning the battle that liberated Alsace on December 31, 1674. This exceptional historical heritage gives the commune a strong identity, which its annual village festival helps to celebrate and pass on.
The Fête de Fontaine offers a program typical of Franche-Comté village festivals, adapted to the family-friendly and convivial nature of this commune of about 600 inhabitants. The afternoon begins with activities for children: outdoor games, races, creative activities, and friendly tournaments that liven up the communal areas.
The village refreshment stand and the country meal are the social heart of the day, allowing all generations to gather around the table. The proceeds help support local associations that animate village life throughout the year.
Fontaine is ideally located at the crossroads of two cultural regions: the Alsatian Sundgau, which it is close to, and Franche-Comté, whose traditions it shares. This dual affiliation enriches the local festival, which sometimes brings together families from both sides of the regional border in a spirit of cross-border sharing.
The commune covers 696 hectares, including 165 hectares of forest, offering a quality natural setting that contributes to the green and pleasant character of the festival site.
Each summer, Fontaine also hosts a stop on the Flâneries d'été, the traveling festival of the Territoire de Belfort organized by the Departmental Council. These free shows - storytellers, musicians, street artists - complement the commune's summer festive offerings and attract an audience from all over the region.
The Fête de Fontaine is above all a moment of community cohesion. In a modest-sized village, the annual festival is an opportunity for old and new residents, families who have lived there for generations, and those who have recently chosen to settle in this green setting on the outskirts of the Belfort agglomeration to meet.
The 2026 Fête de Fontaine will take place as every summer in this historic village of the Territoire de Belfort. On the program: family activities, games, a country meal, and a convivial evening for all residents and visitors.
The Fête de Fontaine 2026 will continue the festive tradition of this historic village. Activities for children, games, a country meal at the foot of the Tilleul de Turenne, and a festive evening orchestrated by local volunteers will be on the agenda. Detailed program to come.
