The village of Suarce (90100) is located in the south of the Territoire de Belfort, in the Communauté de Communes Sud-Territoire. Close to the Swiss border and the canton of Basel-Country, this village benefits from a remarkable geographical location at the borders of France and the Swiss Confederation. The Suarce Festival Committee is particularly active and organizes several events throughout the year.

The Fête de l'Âne: Suarce's pride

Suarce is best known throughout the region for its Fête de l'Âne (Donkey Festival), organized every year on August 15th. This event has become a benchmark among national village festivals, recognized for its scale and family-friendly nature. The Fête de l'Âne welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the region each year to attend:

• The donkey gymkhana, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM
• The exhibition of over a hundred quality merchants starting at 9 AM
• Demonstrations by traditional craftsmen: potters, clog makers, basket weavers, blacksmiths
• The traditional Flower Parade at 3 PM, with musicians and stilt walkers

The summer communal festival

In addition to the Fête de l'Âne, Suarce also organizes its summer communal festival, a gathering moment for the inhabitants of the village and surrounding communities. This more intimate festival allows the local community to come together in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, far from the crowds of the main August 15th event.

Children's activities, pétanque competitions, a refreshment stand, and a community meal are at the heart of the program for this village summer festival, which perpetuates the Franche-Comté traditions of conviviality and sharing.
