A huge playground in the heart of Laval
The Fête du Jeu de Laval is a global cultural event created in Mayenne that transforms the streets, gardens, and squares of Laval into a huge playground every year. For a week in May, the Fête du Jeu Collective, made up of about fifteen local associations, offers hundreds of fun activities for all ages: board games, card games, skill games, video games, role-playing games, sports and cooperative games. The main event on Saturday at the parvis du Châteauneuf brings together thousands of players.
Created in Mayenne, the Fête du Jeu de Laval has become a major cultural event that transforms the city of Laval into a gigantic open-air playground every spring. For a whole week in May, the city's streets, gardens, squares, and public facilities host hundreds of fun activities accessible to all ages and tastes.
The Fête du Jeu unfolds over several days with a rich and varied program:
The highlight of the week is the main event on Saturday, held on the parvis du Châteauneuf and throughout Laval's city center. On this day, dozens of stands offer board games, skill games, card games, sports games, cooperative games, puzzles, and quizzes, attracting thousands of players of all ages.
The Fête du Jeu is organized by the Collectif Fête du Jeu, which brings together about fifteen local associations involved in gaming, as well as companies in the gaming sector. This collective works year-round to prepare this major event, with the support of the CLEP (Centre Local d'Éducation Populaire).
Beyond entertainment, the Fête du Jeu promotes strong values of sharing, cooperation, and intergenerational encounters. Games become a tool for social connection, allowing families, friends, and strangers to come together around a common activity in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
A flagship event in Laval's cultural calendar, the Fête du Jeu has an influence far beyond Mayenne, attracting visitors from all over the region and even further afield each year, drawn by the richness and diversity of its gaming program.
