National Day in Gagny: Guinguette, Dancing, and Fireworks on the Town Hall
The town of Gagny (Seine-Saint-Denis, 93220) offers one of the most festive and original July 14th celebrations in Seine-Saint-Denis each year. With its guinguette on Place Foch, its DJ set, its fireworks launched from the town hall roof, and its light projections on the building's facade, Gagny offers its residents an evening that is both popular and spectacular.
The Morning Commemorative Ceremony
The July 14th day begins with an official ceremony at 11:30 AM on the Esplanade Michel Teulet. In the presence of the Mayor, municipal elected officials, and patriotic associations, this ceremony recalls the dual meaning of July 14th: the storming of the Bastille in 1789 and the first Fête de la Fédération in 1790, a founding moment of national unity. Wreath laying, reading of official messages, and the national anthem mark this solemn and reflective time.
The Festive Evening on Place Foch
From 6:30 PM onwards, Place Foch becomes the beating heart of the festivities. A guinguette is set up, offering food, drinks, and outdoor seating for families and friends in a rustic and convivial setting. The relaxed atmosphere of the traditional guinguette evokes the golden age of French popular balls in the 20th century.
Starting at 8:30 PM, a DJ takes over the sound system and gets the residents dancing with a varied and energetic musical set. Place Foch then transforms into a true open-air dance floor, in the warmth of the summer evening.
Fireworks from the Town Hall Roof
At 11 PM, the long-awaited moment arrives: the fireworks are launched from the Gagny Town Hall roof, in a spectacular setup unique to Seine-Saint-Denis. Simultaneously, light projections are displayed on the facade of the town hall, transforming the republican building into a giant screen of lights and colors. This original staging combines pyrotechnics and video mapping for a visually stunning show.
Gagny, a Town in Eastern Seine-Saint-Denis
Gagny is a commune in Seine-Saint-Denis with approximately 40,000 inhabitants, located on the border with Seine-et-Marne. A mixed town combining residential areas and large housing estates, it is served by the RER E line and has a dynamic commercial and associative fabric. Its location on the edge of the Bondy forest gives it a pleasant natural setting. The National Day is an eagerly awaited event for the entire population.
