The National Day in Stains: A Popular and Republican Gathering
Each year, the town of Stains (Seine-Saint-Denis) fervently celebrates July 14th, the French National Day, with a festive evening generally organized on the evening of July 13th to allow all residents to fully enjoy the festivities. A highlight of the Stains summer calendar, this event brings together thousands of residents in a spirit of conviviality, republican pride, and sharing.
Fireworks at the Heart of the Leisure Park
The centerpiece of the festivities is the firework display, launched from the Stains leisure park, opposite the municipal swimming pool. The pyrotechnic show, carefully designed, illuminates the Stains sky with colorful bursts and luminous bouquets, offering a spectacle enjoyed by the whole family. The park's location, in the center of town, allows many neighborhoods to enjoy the show from multiple viewpoints.
Entertainment and Popular Ball
Before the fireworks, entertainment is offered on-site: food and drink stalls, play areas for children, live music or DJ to set the mood. The traditional popular ball allows residents to dance and socialize in a relaxed and warm atmosphere. The distribution of lanterns to children often precedes the start of the fireworks, creating an enchanting atmosphere at dusk.
Stains: A Town Committed to Republican Life
Stains is a commune of 40,000 inhabitants located north of Paris, in the Seine-Saint-Denis department. A working-class town with a strong industrial identity, it has always placed great importance on collective celebrations and unifying events. The celebration of July 14th is part of this tradition of republican commitment and active civic life, supported by the municipality and numerous local associations.
The commune is part of the Plaine Commune intercommunal structure, a dynamic territory in northern Seine-Saint-Denis that pools many cultural and event services. July 14th is celebrated in each member town, creating a constellation of festivities across the territory.
Commemorative Ceremony
On the morning of July 14th, an official ceremony is organized at the war memorial or in front of the Stains town hall, in the presence of the mayor, elected officials, and representatives of veterans' associations. This solemn moment of remembrance precedes the popular festivities of the evening, recalling the historical and civic dimension of this national day.
A Free and Accessible Event for All
As in almost all communes in France, the National Day in Stains is an entirely free event open to all. No ticket is needed to attend the fireworks or participate in the popular entertainment: the celebration belongs to all the people of Stains, regardless of their origin or means. This spirit of universality is at the heart of the July 14th celebration in France.
