The Festival International du Cirque du Val-d'Oise: twenty years of wonder

Founded in 2000 by the association CAP Domont, the Festival International du Cirque du Val-d'Oise has become, in two decades, one of the major family and cultural events in the department. Every autumn, it transforms the Parc des Coquelicots in Domont into a magical universe, with a huge tent and world-class circus programming.

Since its inception, the festival has hosted artists and troupes from all corners of the globe, making Domont an ephemeral circus capital on the first weekend of October. Its 23rd edition, in 2025, attracted nearly 17,000 spectators over three days, confirming the public's enthusiasm for this unique event in Île-de-France.

An exceptional venue: the Parc des Coquelicots

Each year, the festival takes over the Parc des Coquelicots, a large green space in the heart of Domont, accessible on foot from the train station. The big tent is erected a few days before the performances begin, creating a festive and magical atmosphere that attracts families from all over Val-d'Oise and neighboring departments.

Various circus disciplines

The festival stands out for the richness of its artistic programming. Over the years, it has showcased all circus disciplines:

  • Equestrian arts: dressage, vaulting, liberty, balancing
  • Aerial acrobatics: trapeze, aerial hoops, aerial silks
  • Juggling and object manipulation
  • Balancing and contortion acts
  • Clowns and circus comedians
  • High-wire walking and tightrope walking
  • High-level rope skipping

The 2025 edition highlighted equestrian arts, with acts of dressage, vaulting, and balancing on horses, bringing together some of the greatest equestrian artists on the international scene.

A family-friendly and accessible festival

The Festival International du Cirque du Val-d'Oise is primarily designed as a family and popular event. Affordable prices, varied time slots (mornings, afternoons, and evenings), and proximity to public transport make it accessible to all audiences. Young children are admitted free of charge on their parents' laps, and special rates are offered for groups and schools.

A well-organized event

Supported by the association CAP Domont, chaired by Coralie Chêne, the event is carefully organized by a team of passionate volunteers. Ticket sales open at the end of May at the association's office and online, allowing families to book their seats in advance.
