The popular grape harvest festival on the Butte Montmartre, since 1934
Since 1934, the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre has celebrated the harvest of Clos Montmartre, one of Paris's last vineyards, every October. For five days, the Butte Montmartre transforms into a vast festive village combining gastronomy, free concerts, a gourmet trail of producers and winemakers, a grand parade of brotherhoods, and cultural events. Supported by the Comité des Fêtes de Montmartre and the Mayor's office of the 18th arrondissement, the festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to the foot of Sacré-Cœur, in one of Paris's most emblematic neighborhoods.
The history of the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre is inseparable from that of the Clos Montmartre, the only vineyard within the city limits on the right bank of the Seine in Paris. Planted in 1933 on the initiative of the République libre de Montmartre to prevent a real estate project, the Clos occupies 1,556 vines on the slopes of the Butte, at the intersection of Rue des Saules and Rue Saint-Vincent. As early as 1934, the first harvest led to a popular festival that has continued uninterrupted ever since, making this event one of Paris's oldest festivals.
Every October, the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre unfolds its program over five days, taking over the streets, squares, and gardens of the 18th arrondissement. The gourmet trail brings together about a hundred producers and winemakers from all over France at the foot of Sacré-Cœur, offering visitors a tour of French terroirs and regional specialties. The Décibels Vendanges feature free concerts of pop, rock, folk, rap, funk, and electro in various locations in the neighborhood.
A traditional highlight of the festival, the Grand Parade brings together over fifty brotherhoods from all over France, parading in ceremonial costumes through the streets of the 18th arrondissement, from the Clos Montmartre to the town hall. This colorful procession perpetuates a centuries-old tradition of fraternity and celebration of French terroirs, accompanied by brass bands and folk groups.
The 92nd edition of the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre took place from October 8 to 12, 2025, with the theme “The 18th, Eternally Young”. The festival celebrated youth as a state of mind across all generations, with a program blending culture, art, gastronomy, and sport. The Décibels Vendanges offered four days of free concerts in several locations in the neighborhood, and the gourmet trail brought together about a hundred producers and winemakers at the foot of Sacré-Cœur. The candidacy of Montmartre for UNESCO World Heritage status was highlighted during this edition.
The 93rd edition of the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre will be held from October 7 to 11, 2026. Five days of festivities are announced, including the gourmet trail, Décibels Vendanges concerts, the Grand Parade of brotherhoods, and the closing ball. The full program will be unveiled in the fall of 2026.
