The 16th edition of the Festival Atmosphères will be held from October 7 to 11, 2026, in Courbevoie and online, with screenings in partner multiplexes across France. The festival continues its mission to make culture a tool for ecological and social transition.

The theme for the 16th edition will be announced in the spring of 2026. As every year, the program will feature about twenty films — documentaries and fiction — often presented in premiere, accompanied by debates, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and an action forum.

The festival will remain entirely free and open to all, with a free festival pass available online at atmospheresfestival.com. The school program will once again welcome several thousand students.

Programme Atmosphères 2026

The theme and detailed schedule for the 16th edition (October 7-11, 2026) have not yet been released by the organizers; the "Program" page on the official website still points to the 2025 edition. However, an "Arts and Sciences" evening has already been announced for Saturday, October 10, featuring explorer and researcher Christian Clot as a guest. The festival will also see the return of its signature discussions and debates, the action forum, workshops, an activity village, and the educational program for schools. Festival Atmosphères: Culture for the Planet

Few festivals are as unique and as necessary as the Festival Atmosphères. Born in 2011 in Courbevoie, Hauts-de-Seine, it was founded by Pascal Signolet with a clear ambition: to make culture a tool for raising awareness and taking action in the face of the ecological and social crises of our time.

The festival is not an ordinary environmental cinema festival. It is a meeting place for artists, scientists, researchers, citizens, and students around films, debates, workshops, and performances that explore the complexity of the world we live in — and the paths towards a more just and sustainable future.

A Pioneering and Multidisciplinary Format

Atmosphères is organized around several complementary axes:

  • Cinema programming: about twenty films per edition — documentaries and fiction — often presented in world or French premieres, followed by debates with the film crews and experts. The works are chosen for their artistic quality as well as their relevance to environmental and social issues.
  • Meetings and conferences: round tables, conferences, science cafés with researchers, experts, and committed personalities, allowing for a deeper exploration of the themes addressed in the films.
  • Action forum: a space for concrete exchange on solutions and citizen initiatives to accelerate the transition.
  • Workshops and exhibitions: participatory and educational offerings for all ages.
  • School program: a program specially designed for students, which welcomes around 3,000 children and adolescents each year.

Renowned Patrons

The festival benefits from the support of committed personalities who bring it visibility and credibility: Marion Cotillard, actress and environmental activist, Cyril Dion, committed filmmaker and writer (Demain), and Hubert Reeves, astrophysicist and an iconic figure in science popularization, are among the festival's historical patrons.

Free and Accessible to All

Total free admission is one of the pillars of the Festival Atmosphères. Convinced that culture must be accessible to everyone, the organizers have maintained free entry to all events since the beginning. A free festival pass is available online, without guaranteed seating (entry subject to capacity), in a logic of assumed equality of access.

The 2025 Edition — 15th Anniversary

The 15th edition of the Festival Atmosphères was held from October 8 to 12, 2025 in Courbevoie and online. Under the theme of the anniversary and openness, this edition explored the theme of "Intelligence(s)" — human, rational, intuitive, and collective intelligence, the intelligence of life, and artificial intelligence with its uses, developments, and social and environmental impact. 22 films were presented, including several world premieres, accompanied by debates, conferences, an exhibition, and a special evening dedicated to glacier preservation with glaciologist Heïdi Sevestre.

The 2026 Edition — 16th Edition

The 16th edition will be held from October 7 to 11, 2026 in Courbevoie, online, and in partner multiplexes across France. The theme and program will be announced in the spring of 2026. Free and open to all, the festival will continue to explore the intersections between cinema, arts, sciences, and citizen engagement to outline the contours of a more sustainable world.
