Bruderthal, whose name means "Brothers' Valley" in reference to the Carthusians who cultivated vines as early as the Middle Ages, benefits from an ideal southeast exposure and a marly soil conducive to the expression of great wines. An emblematic highlight of the festival, the Weighing of the Grape Queen is a centuries-old tradition: the elected Queen is weighed in front of the Hôtel de la Monnaie, and the winemakers offer her her weight in wine. This joyous ceremony, followed by a reception, kicks off a Sunday of festivities in the city's medieval streets.
