Fireworks and popular festivities on the banks of the Marne
Each year, the town of Maisons-Alfort celebrates the National Holiday with a festive program combining a firefighters' ball, children's entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks display launched from the banks of the Marne, in coordination with the neighboring towns of Charenton-le-Pont and Saint-Maurice. A popular and family-friendly event rooted in republican tradition.
Every July 14th, the town of Maisons-Alfort (94700) offers its residents a complete festive program to commemorate the storming of the Bastille and celebrate republican values. Ideally located at the confluence of the Seine and the Marne, the town takes advantage of its riverbanks to offer one of the most popular fireworks displays in the Val-de-Marne.
The festivities generally begin on the evening of July 13th with the traditional firefighters' ball organized on the forecourt of the Town Hall, avenue du Général de Gaulle. The atmosphere is festive, friendly, and family-oriented, with music, refreshments, and a dance floor under the stars. The ball on the evening of the 13th is a vibrant tradition that brings together hundreds of Maisons-Alfort residents each year.
July 14th is marked by a day of festivities for families. In the afternoon, the "Ô fil de l'eau" funfair takes over the Parc du Moulin Brûlé (avenue Foch) with inflatable structures, a tombola, a climbing wall, fun activities, and games for children. Local associations are also present for moments of conviviality.
The highlight of the festivities is undoubtedly the pyromusical fireworks display, launched late in the evening from the banks of the Marne, at the level of Quai Fernand Saguet, not far from the Pont de Charenton. This show is organized jointly with the towns of Charenton-le-Pont and Saint-Maurice, giving it exceptional scope and ensuring visibility from both banks.
The theme of the fireworks varies each year, combining classical music, French songs, and elaborate pyrotechnic effects. The show lasts about twenty minutes and attracts several thousand spectators gathered on the banks, in the parks, and on the surrounding quays.
To ensure public safety, the town sets up security perimeters around the firing zones. Some streets and the Pont de Charenton are temporarily closed to traffic on the evening of July 14th. Bag checks are installed at the entrances to the public area. Spectators are advised to arrive early and consult the traffic arrangements communicated by the town.
The celebration of July 14th is part of a long republican tradition in Maisons-Alfort. The town, whose name is inseparable from the École Nationale Vétérinaire (ENVA), the oldest veterinary school in the world, attaches great importance to civic celebrations and social cohesion. The National Holiday is thus an opportunity to bring together residents from all neighborhoods around common values: liberty, equality, fraternity.
The complete program (exact times, locations, activities) is communicated each year by the town via its official website, social media, and the municipal magazine Maisons-Alfort le Mag.
