Fireworks, concert and activities at the Plage de Nanterre for July 14th
Every year around July 14th, the city of Nanterre celebrates the National Holiday on the banks of the Seine with a festive program combining sports activities for children, an open-air concert, and a grand fireworks display launched from the Plage de Nanterre. A free and popular event in the heart of the prefecture city of Hauts-de-Seine.
Nanterre, prefecture of Hauts-de-Seine, celebrates the National Holiday of July 14th with an outdoor festive program anchored on an emblematic site: the Plage de Nanterre, a leisure area set up on the banks of the Seine. The evening, free and open to all, brings together thousands of Nanterre residents in a joyful and friendly atmosphere.
The festivities begin in the afternoon with sports activities for children: tournaments, group games, sports initiations led by local clubs and city associations. This family-friendly pre-program allows Nanterre families to gather and enjoy the Plage site in a festive atmosphere before sunset.
At dusk, a live concert takes over from the day's activities. Each year, the city invites an artist or a band for an open-air show that puts the crowd in a good mood before the highlight of the evening. The repertoire is generally popular and festive, so that the greatest number can find themselves in the music and dance under the stars.
A DJ set follows the concert to keep the atmosphere going until the fireworks, in a modern guinguette atmosphere.
At 11 p.m., the sky of Nanterre ignites with the grand fireworks display launched from the Plage. The pyrotechnic show illuminates the Seine and is visible from both banks, attracting many spectators from neighboring towns — Colombes, Puteaux, Courbevoie — who come to enjoy the panorama of the river. The crowd gathered on the banks and the grassy areas of the Plage experiences this moment of patriotic communion with particular intensity.
Nanterre is a city attached to its popular and working-class dimension. The National Holiday takes on a special resonance here: a city of all origins and all cultures, Nanterre transforms July 14th into a celebration of diversity and republican fraternity.
The Plage de Nanterre, inaugurated as part of the development of the Seine riverbanks, is a green space of several hectares that hosts sports, cultural, and leisure activities throughout the summer. Its natural amphitheater makes it an ideal setting for large popular gatherings. The proximity of the La Défense district and excellent public transport links make this area accessible from all over Greater Paris.
The 2026 National Holiday in Nanterre will be held at the Plage de Nanterre with the traditional program of sports activities, an open-air concert, and fireworks on the banks of the Seine. Free entry for all Nanterre residents and visitors.
The city of Nanterre is renewing its festive program for the 2026 National Holiday. The Plage de Nanterre will once again host activities, a live concert, and grand fireworks. The detailed program will be announced on the city's official website closer to July 14th, 2026.
