National Day in Savigny-sur-Orge

Each year, the town of Savigny-sur-Orge celebrates the National Day with enthusiasm. A commune of over 37,000 inhabitants in the Orge valley, Savigny-sur-Orge is known for its dynamic associative and cultural life, and the July 14th celebration is one of its most popular expressions.

Fireworks at Jean Moulin Sports Park

The heart of the festivities takes place at the Jean Moulin Sports Park, a vast outdoor sports area that hosts the grand National Day fireworks display each year. Entry to the site opens at 10:45 PM, with gates opening slightly before the show begins to allow everyone to settle in. The fireworks are traditionally launched around 11:15 PM, in the warm July night.

In 2025, the pyrotechnic show was designed around the theme of the Olympic Games, in tribute to the Paris 2024 Olympics. A musical program accompanied the fireworks, creating a complete sensory experience. For safety reasons, access to the sports park is limited to 2,500 people. The entire event is offered with free and open entry.

Firefighters' Ball

Ahead of the fireworks, the firefighters' ball is organized from 7 PM at the Savigny-sur-Orge barracks. This popular tradition, celebrated throughout France on July 13th, allows residents to dance and party in a jovial atmosphere. Savigny's firefighters open their doors to the public and offer drinks, music, and good cheer until the end of the evening.

Savigny-sur-Orge, town in the Orge valley

Crossed by the river Orge and its tributaries, Savigny-sur-Orge benefits from a pleasant natural environment in the south of the Paris region. The town developed around its old center and residential areas, with a particularly active associative life. It is connected to Paris by RER C (Savigny-sur-Orge station), making it easily accessible for residents of neighboring towns.

The National Day here symbolizes the attachment of the Saginiaciens to the republican values of liberty, equality, and fraternity. It is a time when generations mingle, where new and old families of the town come together, and where we celebrate together what unites all French people beyond their differences.

A Popular and Family Event

The popular success of the Savigny-sur-Orge fireworks is such that the town must carefully manage attendance each year. The limit of 2,500 spectators at the Jean Moulin Sports Park ensures safety while preserving the quality of the experience for each participant. Families with children particularly appreciate the impeccable organization of the event, which allows them to enjoy the show with complete peace of mind.

Beyond the fireworks themselves, the evening of July 14th in Savigny is an opportunity to gather with neighbors, friends, and family in a festive setting. Residents meet before the show for an impromptu picnic in the park's green spaces, thus perpetuating a summer tradition that gives this republican holiday its full human warmth.
