Free festival of mixed music by the Loire
Since 2005, the Les Traver'Cé Musicales festival has set the banks of the Loire and the moats of the Château des Ponts-de-Cé vibrating to the rhythm of mixed music. This free, family-friendly event was born from the desire to create a meeting space for musicians of multiple nationalities and musical inspirations, in a unique heritage setting near Angers.
The festival unfolds in a remarkable natural and historical setting: the moats of the castle of Les Ponts-de-Cé and the banks of the Loire offer a sumptuous backdrop for open-air concerts. The stage, repositioned near the football field for the 2026 edition, highlights the castle and the bridge's arcades, creating a unique visual atmosphere that accompanies the music.
The programming of Les Traver'Cé Musicales showcases world music in all its diversity: afrobeat, cumbia, reggae, soul, funk, ethio-jazz, calypso, gypsy music, and many other sounds blend on stage. The festival features both internationally renowned artists and emerging groups, with a particular focus on collective projects and musical fusions. Wandering fanfares add a festive and participatory dimension.
Labeled as an eco-engaged event, Les Traver'Cé Musicales implements an ambitious environmental approach: dry toilets, waste sorting, short-circuit catering, elimination of plastic, and a free shuttle from Angers. The festival also offers a "bal bambins" (children's ball) to open the event, designed for families and young children, celebrating the end of the school year in a musical and friendly atmosphere.
The 21st edition of Les Traver'Cé Musicales will take place on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, 2026 in the castle moats and along the Loire river in Les Ponts-de-Cé. This anniversary edition is marked by a format change: the festival shifts from the traditional Saturday-Sunday to Friday-Saturday, with four groups per day (instead of three) complemented by a daily brass band. Friday's headliner: Electro Deluxe (25 years on stage). On Saturday, female voices and tropical rhythms will be in the spotlight with Les Amazones d'Afrique, Cumbia Boom Box, Passion Coco, La Tchoutchouka, and DJ Wonderbraz. Free admission.
The festival returns on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, 2026 with a renewed format. To celebrate its 21st anniversary, the stage is repositioned near the football field to highlight the Château des Ponts-de-Cé and the bridge arches in the background. The program is expanded to include four groups per day, complemented by a daily wandering brass band. The Friday opening also coincides with the start of summer holidays and the family “Bal bambins” (kids' dance).
The evening opens with the Bal bambins by Toma Sidibé, a Franco-Malian musician whose mixed music blends Malian rhythms, reggae, and songs in Bambara. The program continues with Alright Mela (electronic beats mixed with oud and guembri), the Compagnie Capharnaüm (Brazilian percussion ensemble), the brass band Big Joanna (Caribbean / ethio-jazz / rock universe), and the headliner Electro Deluxe, a French soul-funk group celebrating 25 years on stage.
The day highlights female voices and world rhythms. Les Amazones d'Afrique, a pan-African collective advocating for women's rights, opens the evening. They are followed by Cumbia Boom Box (cumbia and electronic fusion), Passion Coco (Colombian rhythms tinged with psychedelic rock), La Tchoutchouka (electric cumbia), and DJ Wonderbraz with his electro-exotic sets. A wandering brass band also animates the surroundings of the site.
Labeled an eco-committed event by the REEVE label and awarded by the Trophées Angers Loire Éco-événement 2025, the festival implements a concrete environmental approach: ecocups, dry toilets, zero single-use plastic, free recyclable earplugs, local and organic catering, waste sorting, free shuttle from Angers, and encouragement of soft mobility. The event is free and open to all audiences, with activities for families.
