Free cultural and festive festival organized by students in Saumur
Born in 2020 from the initiative of students from the University of Angers, the Les Temps d'Art festival has quickly established itself as an unmissable cultural event of the Saumur autumn. Driven by a team of passionate young volunteers, this free event transforms Saumur's city center into an open-air stage, blending artistic disciplines, heritage, and conviviality.
The festival offers a continuous artistic route through the squares and streets of Saumur's city center. From the afternoon until late in the evening, spectators are guided from one performance to another, discovering contemporary dance, circus, music, and street art performances as they wander. Each edition is themed differently, offering a fresh perspective on the possibilities of artistic creation in public spaces.
The 2025 edition, the fifth of its name, explored the theme of the "moving body," with a program that gave pride of place to dance and circus. Performances ran from 3:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with a catering break at 7:10 PM and a grand final ball inviting everyone to dance until the end of the evening.
True to its values of accessibility and cultural democratization, Les Temps d'Art is an entirely free festival, open to all audiences, from families to students and seniors. On-site catering allows you to enjoy the evening without interruption. The event is supported by the MJC Centre Social de Saumur, the University of Angers, and the City of Saumur.
Beyond a simple festival, Les Temps d'Art is a true laboratory for artistic creation driven by youth. The organizing students work throughout the year on designing the route, selecting companies, and coordinating logistics, thus gaining valuable experience in cultural mediation and event management. The festival also serves as a springboard for young emerging companies and artists who find an enthusiastic and supportive audience in Saumur.
Les Temps d'Art returns for its 6th edition in October 2026. The free festival will offer a new theme and an artistic route through the center of Saumur. The program will be announced in the fall of 2026.
