Festival Herbe Bleue: Bluegrass in the heart of Anjou

Since 2019, the Festival Herbe Bleue has brought the sounds of the banjo, fiddle, and mandolin to the lush green landscapes of the Baugeois region. Born from the passion of a few musicians and the area's unique charm, this festival has quickly become the go-to event for bluegrass, old-time, and Cajun music in France.

Concerts in unique settings

The originality of Herbe Bleue lies in its deep local roots and its choice of venues. Concerts take place outdoors in farms, barns, fields, forests, and village squares scattered throughout the Baugeois area. This nomadic spirit creates a unique intimacy between artists and the audience, set against the beautiful natural and heritage backdrops of Maine-et-Loire. The main site, the Cour du Liège in Clefs, hosts the evening concerts and the festival campsite.

An outstanding international lineup

Each edition brings together internationally renowned artists and emerging bands from the United States, Canada, Europe, and France. Bluegrass, old-time, and Cajun music are at the heart of the program, featuring performances that highlight instrumental virtuosity, collective energy, and dance. The traditional dances, led by passionate musicians, are a highlight of every edition, inviting the audience to dance the night away.

Workshops, jams, and a springboard for talent

Beyond the concerts, Herbe Bleue offers a rich program of instrumental workshops (banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, double bass), spontaneous and organized jams, a springboard and open-mic stage for emerging talent, as well as screenings and artist meet-and-greets. A free-access area is dedicated to workshops and exchanges between musicians of all levels.

A family-friendly festival rooted in its region

Herbe Bleue is designed for everyone. The campsite at the Cour du Liège, the artisan village, on-site restaurants, and the refreshment area create a festive village atmosphere where friends and families can gather. The festival promotes local producers and regional artisans, offering food rooted in the Anjou terroir. The Sunday morning Gospel Hour has become a beloved ritual to close the festival on a high note.
