Angers' great funfair
Founded in 1913, the Foire Saint-Martin is Angers' great funfair. Every year in November, for nearly four weeks, over 150 attractions and rides set up on the Place de la Rochefoucauld. This centuries-old institution brings together over 600 fairground professionals and attracts tens of thousands of visitors, young and old, in a festive and popular atmosphere combining thrills, treats, and family entertainment.
Since 1913, the Foire Saint-Martin has been the unmissable funfair event in Angers. Every November, the Place de la Rochefoucauld transforms into a huge open-air amusement park, with over 150 rides and attractions gathered by more than 600 fairground professionals.
Originally, the Foire Saint-Martin was held at the Champ-de-Mars (now Place du Général Leclerc). In 1964, due to the fair's expansion and space requirements, it was moved to the Place de la Rochefoucauld, a vast esplanade on the banks of the Maine, in the Doutre district. This site offers enough space to accommodate the dozens of rides and thousands of visitors who flock there every year.
The Foire Saint-Martin offers a complete range of attractions: thrill rides for adrenaline junkies, carousels and rides for children, game stalls (shooting, duck fishing, lotteries), bumper cars, and haunted houses. Every year, new and original attractions join the classic favorites. In 2025, the Banzaï ride was among the highly anticipated new additions.
The fair is also a paradise of fairground treats: cotton candy, candy apples, churros, waffles, crepes, and nougat accompany visitors throughout their stroll. The evening atmosphere, with the lights of the rides and the music, gives the fair a particularly festive ambiance.
The Foire Saint-Martin regularly organizes special days: official inauguration, family days with reduced prices, closing day with attractions at a single price (€3 in 2025), and surprise entertainment with mascots and Disney parades.
The 2026 Foire Saint-Martin will be held in November on the Place de la Rochefoucauld in Angers. The great funfair will once again bring together over 150 attractions and rides for young and old, with brand new attractions and classic fairground favorites, in a festive and popular atmosphere.
The Foire Saint-Martin returns in November 2026 to the Place de la Rochefoucauld. Over 150 attractions will welcome visitors for nearly four weeks of funfair, combining thrills, rides for children, game stalls, and fairground treats.
