About Hiri Besta

Hiri Besta is the great Basque festival of Hendaye, a festive and cultural event that takes place every year at the beginning of August on the second weekend of the month. For a week, cultural discovery workshops at the Halles de Gaztelu prepare for the festival, followed by a three-day weekend of intense festivities combining popular races, Basque pelota tournaments, concerts, float parades, and fireworks. The Sunday Basque Festival, the highlight of the event, brings the whole town together around a local produce market, a solemn mass, traditional dances, and a grand parade of floats and bands starting from the train station.
