Baroque and Classical Music Festival in Villefranche-de-Rouergue
The Musical Labyrinth in Rouergue is a baroque and classical music festival held every summer in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, in the Aveyron region. Created in 2012, it draws on the town's unique musical heritage—the anonymous baroque scores of the Pénitents Noirs and the second largest public jazz collection in France—to offer unexpected musical encounters between ancient music and contemporary creation. Concerts in historic chapels and buildings, choral singing workshops, serpent, and baroque dance make up this intimate and learned festival.

The festival places great importance on transmission and musical practice:
The emblematic venue of the festival is the Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs, a masterpiece of Occitan baroque art. Built in the 17th century, it houses an exceptional painted decoration of over 1,000 m2 depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ. It was in its archives that the anonymous scores inspiring the festival were discovered. The remarkable acoustics of this place make it an ideal setting for early music concerts.
