This page is kept as an archive on the history of contemporary music in Saint-Quentin.
A festival born from rock passion in Aisne
Created in February 2003, the En Trans'Aisne association was born from the desire of a group of contemporary music enthusiasts to energize the cultural scene of Saint-Quentin and the Aisne department. Inspired by the pioneering spirit of the Rencontres Trans Musicales de Rennes, the association's mission was to promote contemporary music in all its forms — rock, punk, metal, electro, hip-hop, and the independent scene.
A significant first edition in 2007
The En Trans'Aisne festival was launched in June 2007 with an ambitious first edition over two days. The concept was daring: to offer a contrasting double lineup, with a rock and punk side on Friday and a metal side on Saturday. The program mixed local, national, and international bands, offering a showcase for the emerging scene in northern France while inviting renowned acts like the Dutch band Born From Pain.
Among the artists of this inaugural edition: Nevrotic Explosion (Breton punk rock), The Wild Spirits, Bunker Palace Hotel, Needles (Lille pop punk), DSK, Wild Karnivor, Aker, Forty'oz, Jamash Aya and As It Falls. The festival had attracted an enthusiastic audience.
An anchor in Saint-Quentin's cultural fabric
Saint-Quentin, sub-prefecture of Aisne and the most populated city in the department, has a rich cultural fabric with venues like Le Splendid, the Palais de Fervaques and, since 2018, La Manufacture, a venue dedicated to contemporary music. En Trans'Aisne was part of this ecosystem, offering a program focused on discovery and alternative aesthetics.
The end of an adventure
Beyond the inaugural 2007 edition, no new edition of the festival has been listed by independent sources; the specialized directory Infoconcert also indicates that this festival "no longer exists". The rock and metal scene in Aisne nevertheless remains dynamic thanks to other events like the Rock'Aisne Festival, the Arsenal Rock Festival, or the Festival Berzyk. If a new edition of En Trans'Aisne were ever to be organized, this page would be updated.
