Grand medieval festival at the Château de Blandy-les-Tours
Every year at the turn of May and June, the Château de Blandy-les-Tours, a magnificently restored 14th-century medieval fortress, opens its doors wide for Les Seigneuriales, the grand medieval festival of Seine-et-Marne. For a weekend, the castle and its grounds transform into a vibrant medieval village: knight tournaments, historical reenactment camps, craft artisans, falconry, medieval dances, juggling shows, mead tastings, and a medieval market. This festive and family-friendly event, organized by the Department of Seine-et-Marne, immerses visitors in the heart of the Middle Ages within an exceptional architectural setting, one of the last remaining castles in Île-de-France.
The Château de Blandy-les-Tours, an imposing 14th-century medieval fortress located south of Seine-et-Marne, is one of the few castles still standing in Île-de-France. Owned by the Department of Seine-et-Marne since 1992 and carefully restored, it hosts Les Seigneuriales each year at the turn of spring and summer, a grand medieval festival that attracts families and history enthusiasts.
The highlight of Les Seigneuriales is the knight tournament held in the castle courtyard. Each edition stages an epic narrative—such as the Trojan War or Arthurian legends—where armored knights clash in spectacular jousts orchestrated by La Chevalerie Initiatique. Spectators are invited to choose their side and cheer for their champions in a vibrant and immersive atmosphere.
Alongside the tournament, Les Seigneuriales offers a rich program of activities: historical reenactment camps where blacksmiths, weavers, and calligraphers showcase ancestral skills; falconry demonstrations with birds of prey flying freely above the ramparts; archery and medieval dance workshops; juggling and street theater performances; and storytellers who bring the history of the lords of Blandy to life. A tasting of hypocras, the spiced wine of the Middle Ages, completes this sensory immersion into the medieval world.
Outside the castle walls, a free-access medieval market brings together artisans offering medieval-inspired jewelry, costumes, accessories, and leather and metalwork. This artisan village allows everyone to leave with a unique souvenir and extend the medieval experience beyond the castle walls.
The Château de Blandy-les-Tours, with its five towers, its 35-meter-high keep, and its moat, provides a striking natural backdrop for this medieval festival. Classified as a historic monument, it offers exceptional panoramic views of the Brie countryside from the top of the keep. Les Seigneuriales offer a chance to discover this remarkable architectural heritage in a festive and friendly atmosphere, far from a traditional museum visit.
Les Seigneuriales de Blandy return on May 30th and 31st, 2026, at the Château de Blandy-les-Tours for another weekend of medieval celebration. Knight tournament, reenactment camps, falconry, and an artisan market in the majestic setting of one of the last castles in Île-de-France.
