About Air Legend

Created in 2018, Air Legend is the major air show of Seine-et-Marne, organized annually in September at the Melun-Villaroche airfield in Montereau-sur-le-Jard. For two days, exceptional aircraft—World War II fighters, military jets, aerobatic teams, and historic aircraft—perform in the Parisian sky before tens of thousands of passionate spectators. On the ground, an exhibitor village, an aircraft park where the public can get close to the planes and chat with the crews, flight simulators, and activities complete this premier aeronautical spectacle. Taken over in 2024 by Éditions Larivière and Amara Airshow, Air Legend benefits from an agreement with SYMPAV guaranteeing the event's sustainability until 2030.

Air Legend: The Magic of Exceptional Aircraft in Seine-et-Marne

Since 2018, the Melun-Villaroche airfield, located in Montereau-sur-le-Jard in Seine-et-Marne, has hosted Air Legend every September, one of France's largest air shows. For two days, the skies of Île-de-France become the stage for spectacular flight demonstrations, bringing together legendary aircraft from all over Europe and tens of thousands of aviation enthusiasts.

An Exceptional Air Display

Air Legend's hallmark is the quality of its air display. World War II fighters—Spitfire, Mustang P-51, Messerschmitt Bf 109, Corsair—contemporary fighter jets, military helicopters, aerobatic teams, and historic aircraft from all eras perform in meticulously orchestrated flight programs. The show celebrates the history of aviation through thematic aerial displays that recreate major moments in global aeronautics.

Ground Encounters and Activities

Beyond the aerial spectacle, Air Legend offers an aircraft park on the ground where visitors can get up close to the planes, admire the details of these extraordinary machines, and chat with the pilots and crews. An exhibitor village brings together specialized publishers, model makers, aeronautical associations, and equipment suppliers. Flight simulators allow visitors to experience the thrill of piloting, while educational activities introduce younger audiences to the principles of aeronautics.

Melun-Villaroche Airfield: A Site Steeped in History

The Melun-Villaroche airfield was not chosen by chance. This historic site, a major hub of French aviation, has witnessed major chapters in aeronautical history: flight tests of legendary aircraft, military operations base, and testing center for Safran and Dassault Aviation. Organizing an air show on these historic runways gives Air Legend an additional heritage dimension.

Sustainable Organization Until 2030

Following the death of Christian Amara in February 2024, the historic founder of the show, Éditions Larivière and Amara Airshow joined forces to ensure the continuity of Air Legend. An agreement signed with SYMPAV, the airfield's manager, guarantees the organization of the show until 2030. The 7th edition in 2025 attracted 26,600 spectators, confirming the event's strong presence in the French aeronautical landscape.

Air Legend — edition 2026

The 8th edition of Air Legend takes place on September 5 and 6, 2026 at Melun-Villaroche aerodrome, in Montereau-sur-le-Jard (Seine-et-Marne). For two days, the major Île-de-France airshow brings together World War II fighters, contemporary military jets, and aerobatic patrols, with the Patrouille de France announced for Saturday. The flight program is identical on both days.

Air Legend 2026: two days of aerial spectacle at Melun-Villaroche

For its 8th edition, Air Legend returns on September 5 and 6, 2026 to the historic runways of Melun-Villaroche aerodrome. The airshow brings together an aerial display featuring World War II warbirds, modern fighter jets, classic aircraft, and aerobatic patrols, in front of tens of thousands of spectators. The program is identical on Saturday and Sunday, with the exception of the Patrouille de France, announced only for Saturday.

A rich aerial display

The 2026 edition features exceptional aircraft: the Mirage 2000D and the Rafale Marine for contemporary military aviation, the B-17 Flying Fortress, several P-51 Mustangs, the A-26C Invader bomber, the PBY-5A Catalina seaplane, the Douglas DC-3, the F-86 Sabre, as well as vintage aircraft (Beech 18, Beechcraft Staggerwing, Stampe SV-4). The Patrouille de France concludes on Saturday.

Ground activities and 1940s atmosphere

In the morning, the public can visit the aircraft park, get close to the planes, and interact with the crews. An exhibitors' village, historical reenactments, family entertainment, and jazz and swing musical shows in the colors of the 1940s complete the weekend. Introductory flights (DC-3, Fouga jet) are also offered at an additional cost.
