Air Legend: The Magic of Exceptional Aircraft in Seine-et-Marne
Since 2018, the Melun-Villaroche airfield, located in Montereau-sur-le-Jard in Seine-et-Marne, has hosted Air Legend every September, one of France's largest air shows. For two days, the skies of Île-de-France become the stage for spectacular flight demonstrations, bringing together legendary aircraft from all over Europe and tens of thousands of aviation enthusiasts.
An Exceptional Air Display
Air Legend's hallmark is the quality of its air display. World War II fighters—Spitfire, Mustang P-51, Messerschmitt Bf 109, Corsair—contemporary fighter jets, military helicopters, aerobatic teams, and historic aircraft from all eras perform in meticulously orchestrated flight programs. The show celebrates the history of aviation through thematic aerial displays that recreate major moments in global aeronautics.
Ground Encounters and Activities
Beyond the aerial spectacle, Air Legend offers an aircraft park on the ground where visitors can get up close to the planes, admire the details of these extraordinary machines, and chat with the pilots and crews. An exhibitor village brings together specialized publishers, model makers, aeronautical associations, and equipment suppliers. Flight simulators allow visitors to experience the thrill of piloting, while educational activities introduce younger audiences to the principles of aeronautics.
Melun-Villaroche Airfield: A Site Steeped in History
The Melun-Villaroche airfield was not chosen by chance. This historic site, a major hub of French aviation, has witnessed major chapters in aeronautical history: flight tests of legendary aircraft, military operations base, and testing center for Safran and Dassault Aviation. Organizing an air show on these historic runways gives Air Legend an additional heritage dimension.
Sustainable Organization Until 2030
Following the death of Christian Amara in February 2024, the historic founder of the show, Éditions Larivière and Amara Airshow joined forces to ensure the continuity of Air Legend. An agreement signed with SYMPAV, the airfield's manager, guarantees the organization of the show until 2030. The 7th edition in 2025 attracted 26,600 spectators, confirming the event's strong presence in the French aeronautical landscape.
