Dunkerque la Féerique: The Magic of Christmas on Place Jean-Bart

For many years, the city of Dunkirk has adorned itself with its finest attire for the end-of-year celebrations. The Dunkirk Christmas Market, known as 'Dunkerque la Féerique', is the beating heart of these festivities. Located on Place Jean-Bart, at the foot of the statue of the famous privateer, it offers a complete and enchanting Christmas experience.

A Traditional and Gourmet Christmas Market

The traditional chalets of the market offer:

  • Local crafts: Christmas decorations, jewelry, artisanal creations, original gift ideas.
  • Gastronomy: mulled wine, Christmas beer, raclette, tartiflette, waffles, crepes, and specialties from the North.
  • Regional products: chocolates, sweets, cheeses, and charcuterie from the Hauts-de-France region.

Spectacular Attractions and Entertainment

The Dunkirk Christmas Market goes far beyond the chalets:

  • The Ferris Wheel: breathtaking views of the illuminated city from above.
  • The Ice Rink: slides and pirouettes in the heart of the market.
  • Santa's Castle: located in the Town Hall, a magical setting with elves, surprises, and souvenir photos. From November 29th to January 4th.
  • Santa's Descent: a spectacle inaugurating the festivities, Santa Claus rappels down the facade of the Town Hall, accompanied by music and lights.
  • The Christmas Parade: a procession of 13 illuminated floats, mascots, brass bands, and a giant steam locomotive parading through the streets of the city center.
  • The Enchanted Trail: eleven poetic and luminous installations transforming Dunkirk into a magical setting.
  • The Sledding Run and the Fir Tree Carousel: attractions for children on Place Charles Valentin.

A Month of Magic

The Christmas festivities in Dunkirk extend for over a month, from late November to early January. Each weekend brings its share of surprises: shows, workshops for children, concerts, and street entertainment. The entire city is adorned in Christmas colors, with spectacular illuminations on heritage buildings and in the shopping streets.
