Magical shows and crafts in the heart of the Grand Ried
Erstein Celebrates Christmas is an event that enlivens the capital of the Grand Ried over two weekends in December with an artisanal Christmas market and a program of entirely free shows. Dazzling pyrotechnic shows, luminous parades, concerts, storytelling, and the magical 'Magic of the Waters' by Aquatique Show transform the town into a jewel of light. The Artists' Market at the Etappenstall complements the offerings with eco-responsible creations throughout December.
Erstein, the capital of the Alsatian Grand Ried located between Strasbourg and Sélestat, offers a remarkable Christmas program each year for the quality of its shows and the originality of its animations. Erstein Celebrates Christmas is the result of great collective energy, born from the collaboration between the media library, the School of Visual Arts, the Etappenstall, the Grand Ried Tourist Office, and numerous local partners.
One of the major assets of Erstein Celebrates Christmas is the programming of entirely free professional-level shows:
The Erstein Christmas Market features chalets with local merchants and artisans, accompanied by food and drink stalls. Santa Claus welcomes children with a photo booth to capture the moment.
In parallel, the Artists' Market is held at the Etappenstall—a magnificent 18th-century heritage building—from December 1st to 23rd, daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Ten local female artists present eco-responsible crafts: paper, wood, jewelry, fabric, ceramics, candles, leather, and Christmas decorations.
The School of Visual Arts in Erstein offers creative workshops open to all, such as making Christmas baubles, led by professional artists. These free workshops are held at the Etappenstall and contribute to making Christmas in Erstein a participatory and inclusive event.
Erstein Celebrates Christmas 2026 will liven up the town center over two weekends in December with an artisanal market, free magical shows, and the Artists' Market at the Etappenstall.
Erstein Celebrates Christmas returns for a new edition over two weekends in December 2026. Visitors will find the artisanal market, pyrotechnic shows, luminous parades, and the Artists' Market at the Etappenstall. The detailed program will be announced in the fall of 2026.
