Every June 21, Fort-de-France, the capital of Martinique, celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): a musical journey freely enlivens the city center and the various districts of the commune. Organized by the City of Fort-de-France and based on volunteering and sharing, the day honors musical diversity in a spirit of conviviality, on ephemeral stages set up in the streets, squares, and even by the sea.

As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Fort-de-France into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from the lively streets of the city center to the various districts of the commune, in a spirit of conviviality and cohesion.
A musical journey throughout the city
The City of Fort-de-France annually designs a musical journey based on volunteering and sharing, which sets the rhythm for the city center and neighborhoods: ephemeral stages, brass bands, choirs, sound systems, and small local concerts follow one another, from lively alleys to terraces, all the way to the seafront for the last notes by the water. All styles converge there, reflecting the great musical diversity of Martinique.
