About Music Festival in Saint-André
Every year around June 21st, Saint-André, in the east of La Réunion, celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): free concerts, neighborhood stages, and a major popular event at Sarda Garriga stadium, right in the city center. Organized by the City of Saint-André, the festival is entirely free and brings together several thousand spectators, from families to fans of séga, maloya, and contemporary music.
The Fête de la Musique in Saint-André
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms Saint-André into an open-air stage around June 21st. In this commune in the east of La Réunion, the event has become one of the year's major popular highlights: free concerts, musical strolls, and a big evening show at Sarda Garriga stadium, in the heart of the city.
A festival in all neighborhoods
The City of Saint-André usually spreads the festival over several days and in several neighborhoods — city center, La Cressonnière, Fayard, Cambuston — with local activities, open stages for amateur practices, and a grand final concert at Sarda Garriga stadium. Séga, maloya, dancehall, contemporary music, and local talents come together there before a large intergenerational audience.
