Every June 21, Saint-Leu, on the west coast of La Réunion, celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur and local artists, bands, and musicians play for free in the streets, on the seafront, and on the town hall square. Organized by the City of Saint-Leu, the day is entirely free and open to all.
The Fête de la Musique in Saint-Leu
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the town of Saint-Leu into an open-air stage every June 21. In this seaside town in West Reunion, music freely takes over public spaces in the late afternoon and evening, from the seafront to the town center, with all styles combined.
A festival spread throughout the city center
For the 2026 edition, the City of Saint-Leu sets up its municipal stages from 5 PM to 9 PM and invites amateur artists, singers, and musicians from the commune to perform. Two main artistic spaces structure the festival: an acoustic space set up under the filaos trees, on the seafront, for a friendly atmosphere by the ocean, and a micro-stage installed on the town hall square, dedicated to duos and solo artists for short performances.
Beyond the municipal stages, restaurants, hotels, bars, and local businesses offer their own musical programming, extending the celebration into the streets and cultural venues of Saint-Leu.

The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Saint-Leu will take place on Sunday, June 21st, free of charge throughout the city. The City of Saint-Leu will set up its municipal stages from 5 PM to 9 PM, complemented by entertainment from the town's bars, restaurants, and shopkeepers.

For the 2026 edition, the City of Saint-Leu is organizing the festival from 5 PM to 9 PM around two main artistic areas:
Acoustic Area under the Filaos Trees — Seafront, 5 PM-9 PM
An acoustic zone set up under the filaos trees on the seafront, for a friendly atmosphere by the ocean, open to amateur artists and musicians from the town.
Micro-stage — Town Hall Square, 5 PM-9 PM
A micro-stage installed on the town hall square, dedicated to duos and solo artists for short performances.
Throughout the City — Streets, Bars, and Cultural Venues
Restaurants, hotels, bars, and shopkeepers in Saint-Leu will offer their own musical programming, extending the celebration into the streets and cultural venues of the city center.
The program is based on a call for participation from local artists; the specific list of artists will be announced closer to the event.
