The multicultural festival of arts and expressions in Sarcelles
Polykromies de Sarcelles is a multidisciplinary festival that celebrates the cultural and artistic diversity of the city. World music, traditional dances, performing arts, exhibitions, and meetings make up a rich program that highlights the cultures represented in the Sarcellian population. This festive and committed event transforms the city into a space for intercultural exchange and discovery, making Sarcelles a shining model of living together.
Polykromies de Sarcelles is a multidisciplinary festival that draws its name from the multiplicity of cultures and artistic expressions that coexist in Sarcelles. The city, one of the most cosmopolitan in Île-de-France, brings together communities from all over the world: Sephardic Jews from North Africa, West Indians, sub-Saharan Africans, Tamils, French people of all origins... This human richness is the raw material of the festival.
Each edition offers a multidisciplinary program including world music concerts, traditional and contemporary dance performances, visual arts exhibitions, film screenings, conferences, and participatory workshops. The programming highlights artists from the different Sarcellian communities, while also inviting national and international artists to engage with this diversity.
Sarcelles has long suffered from a negative image, associated with the social problems of large suburban cities. Polykromies contributes to rebuilding a positive and dynamic image of the city by highlighting its cultural richness and the talent of its inhabitants. The event is a living demonstration that diversity can be a source of creation and cultural influence.
The musical component of the festival is particularly rich. It features concerts of Sephardic music, zouk and Antillean gwo ka, traditional and contemporary African music, Indian music, as well as hip-hop, jazz, and electronic music. Outdoor stages allow the public to move freely between the different artistic offerings.
Polykromies also offers exhibitions of visual arts, photography, and plastic arts showcasing local and invited artists. These exhibitions are displayed in cultural spaces and sometimes in public areas of the city, making art accessible to all.
Organized with the support of the City of Sarcelles, the Cergy-Pontoise Agglomeration Community, and numerous cultural partners, Polykromies is a model of a citizen and participatory festival that contributes to intercultural dialogue and social cohesion in a rapidly changing territory.
