Rencontres Internationales du Cinéma de Beaurepaire

Independent cinema in preview at the heart of Isère

Beaurepaire — Isère (38) Since 2002

About Cinéma de Beaurepaire

Created in 2002, the Rencontres Internationales du Cinéma de Beaurepaire is a major film event in northern Isère. Every year in November, the L'Oron cinema hosts for four days a rich program of previews, meetings with film crews, professional and amateur short film competitions, as well as youth screenings. Supported by the Entre Bièvre et Rhône community of municipalities, these meetings highlight independent cinema, auteur films, and productions unknown to the general public in a friendly and accessible atmosphere.

The Beaurepaire Cinema Meetings: over twenty years of cinematic passion

Since their creation in 2002, the Rencontres Internationales du Cinéma de Beaurepaire have established themselves as a major cultural event in the Entre Bièvre et Rhône territory. Every year, at the end of November, the L'Oron cinema in Beaurepaire opens its doors to a passionate audience for four intense days of screenings, meetings, and cinematic discoveries.

A program focused on discovery

The festival offers a curated selection of about fifteen preview films, covering all genres and origins:

  • French and international auteur films, often award-winners at major festivals
  • Independent cinema works and little-distributed productions
  • Engaged documentaries and genre films
  • Special youth screenings to introduce the youngest to the seventh art

The goal is to highlight works that do not always receive wide media exposure, while offering the public the first look at films before their national release.

Meetings at the heart of the festival

True to their name, the Beaurepaire Meetings place the exchange between filmmakers and the public at the center of their program. Directors, actors, producers, and technicians are invited to present their films and engage in discussions with the audience during Q&A sessions. These special moments provide insight into the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking and forge a direct link between artists and their audience.

Short film competitions

The festival also stands out for its short film competitions:

  • Professional competition: a selection of short films screened for free, with an audience award decided by the viewers
  • Amateur competition "48h objectif court-métrage": teams create a short film in a limited time a few weeks before the festival, with awards presented at the closing ceremony

An event rooted in its territory

Supported by the Entre Bièvre et Rhône community of municipalities and the city of Beaurepaire, the Cinema Meetings are part of a strong local cultural dynamic. The festival contributes to the animation of the city center and the cultural attractiveness of this small town of tomorrow, demonstrating that quality cinema is not just for big cities.
