When literature and nature meet in Strasbourg
Organized every two years by the SINE association at the CINE de Bussierre, the "De la nature du livre" fair brings together regional photographers, illustrators, writers, and poets in Strasbourg whose works raise awareness of the richness and fragility of natural environments. This unique literary and environmental event in Alsace welcomes over 40 authors over two days, with book signings, readings, and workshops, in the heart of the Robertsau natural park.
Born from the will of the SINE (Strasbourg Initiation Nature Environnement) association, the "De la nature du livre" fair is a unique event that combines literature and environmental awareness. Organized every two years at the CINE de Bussierre, in the heart of the Robertsau natural park, this regional fair offers an exceptional setting for encounters between authors, artists, and nature-loving readers.
The Centre d'Initiation Γ la Nature et Γ l'Environnement (CINE) de Bussierre, located at 155 rue Kempf in the Robertsau district, is the ideal place to host a fair dedicated to nature books. This educational center, nestled in a vast wooded park on the banks of the Ill, works year-round for environmental education. The fair also extends to l'Escale, a socio-cultural center in Robertsau, allowing for more authors and visitors to be accommodated.
Each edition brings together more than forty authors, photographers, illustrators, writers, and poets from the Grand Est region whose works β photographic albums, naturalist guides, novels, poetry, children's books, comics β help to promote and protect the natural environments of Alsace and beyond. Visitors can meet the authors, have their books signed, and discover often little-known publications from small regional publishing houses.
Beyond the book signing stands, the fair offers readings, writing workshops, screenings, and guided nature walks in the Bussierre park. These activities allow for a deeper immersion into the natural environment that inspires the present authors, extending the literary discovery.
The 7th edition, in 2024, benefited from the label "Strasbourg, World Book Capital", highlighting the importance of this fair in Strasbourg's literary scene. This UNESCO label, awarded to Strasbourg for the 2024-2025 period, has given increased visibility to this event rooted in the cultural life of Robertsau.
The 8th edition of the "De la nature du livre" fair is expected in November 2026 at the CINE de Bussierre in Strasbourg. The program will be announced on the SINE association's website.
