ST-ART: Thirty Years of Contemporary Art in the Heart of Europe

Since its creation in 1997, ST-ART has established itself as the leading contemporary art and design fair in the region in France. Originally known as SIAC before becoming ST-ART, this European fair has built its own identity: that of a human-sized event, rooted in a cross-border territory, offering a bold alternative to the major fairs in Paris and Basel.

An Exceptional Architectural Setting

ST-ART unfolds in the halls of the Strasbourg Exhibition Centre, whose main building was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, winner of the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture. Across 10,000 m² of exhibition space, halls 2 and 3 host around sixty galleries each year from France, Germany, Switzerland, the Benelux countries, and beyond, representing over 600 artists.

A Unique Position in the Art Market

ST-ART's uniqueness lies in its positioning as a fair for discovery and prospecting. Where major international fairs favor sure bets and established artists, ST-ART aims to be a springboard for research galleries, artistic laboratories, and emerging talents. This pioneering spirit attracts discerning collectors, young enthusiasts, and art market professionals seeking new discoveries.

A Program Beyond the Market

ST-ART is not limited to selling works of art. Each edition offers an ambitious cultural program: themed guided tours, conferences on market trends and contemporary artistic practices, off-site exhibitions, and a virtual tour accessible online. A country or theme is highlighted each year—Germany and art glass in 2025—enriching cross-border cultural dialogue.

The fair welcomes nearly 13,000 visitors each year over three to four days, confirming its regional, national, and European reach. It is organized by Strasbourg Events, the manager of the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès and the Exhibition Centre.

An Alsatian Base Open to the World

Based in Strasbourg, a European capital and city of culture, ST-ART benefits from an exceptional pool of collectors and art lovers, fueled by the proximity of Germany and Switzerland and the presence of major cultural institutions (MAMCS, Tomi Ungerer Museum, Kunsthalle). The fair actively contributes to the dynamism of the art market in the Grand Est region and strengthens Strasbourg's position as a European cultural hub.
