More than thirty years promoting youth reading

Since 1993, the Soyaux à la Page festival has placed youth literature at the heart of the cultural life of Soyaux. Supported by the association Pour l'École Ouverte, which has been promoting books and reading since its creation in 1975, the festival unites schools, nurseries, leisure centers, and middle schools in the town around artistic and literary projects.

Meetings between authors and young readers

Each year, writers, illustrators, and artists visit Soyaux classrooms to support children's projects. A unifying theme coordinates the various creations, which are presented during a collective exhibition at the Espace Henri Matisse in April or May. These encounters allow children to discover the literary and artistic creation process, develop their taste for reading, and express themselves through various media.

A festival rooted in school and community life

The Soyaux à la Page festival is distinguished by its deep roots in the town's school and community fabric. Projects are developed throughout the school year, with the active participation of teachers, facilitators, and families. The association Pour l'École Ouverte ensures coordination between the various partners and makes sure that every child, from nursery to middle school, can benefit from this cultural openness.

The Espace Henri Matisse, setting for the final exhibition

The final exhibition, a highlight of the festival, takes place at the Espace Henri Matisse in Soyaux. This cultural space hosts the children's creations — illustrated books, murals, models, plastic art — in a presentation that showcases the work accomplished. The exhibition is open to the public and provides a time for sharing between children, their families, and the invited artists.
