About Summer Vibration

ℹ️ Festival stopped. The Summer Vibration Reggae Festival, a major reggae event in Sélestat (Bas-Rhin), held its last edition in 2023. There was no edition in 2024, and the organizing association Zone51 announced in 2025 the end of the event in this format, replaced by a new human-scale festival, the Z51 Fest.

From 2014 to 2023, Summer Vibration transformed Sélestat into the Alsatian capital of reggae every summer. Organized by the Zone51 association, this four-day festival hosted over 50 artists on three stages (Mainstage, Nutty Jungle, and OFF) in a green setting along the Ill river. Reggae, dub, ska, dancehall, world music, and folk coexisted there in a "musical summer camp" atmosphere driven by values of solidarity, eco-responsibility, and living together. Up to 30,000 festival-goers gathered there each year.

ℹ️ Festival stopped. The Summer Vibration Reggae Festival held its last edition in 2023. After an absence in 2024, the Zone51 association confirmed in 2025 the cessation of the event in this format and launched the Z51 Fest instead, a human-scale festival (2,000 people per day, two stages) with broader musical styles (reggae, dub, but also punk, rap, electro, and hip-hop). Zone51 explained this transition by technical, logistical, and financial constraints, risks related to extreme climatic events, and the refusal to engage in a race for gigantism.

Summer Vibration: reggae at the heart of Alsace (2014-2023)

Created in 2014 by the Zone51 association, Summer Vibration was for a decade the unmissable reggae event in eastern France. It had established itself as one of the country's major reggae events, attracting up to 30,000 festival-goers each year to Sélestat, in the heart of the Alsace plain.

Three stages for over 50 artists

Summer Vibration deployed its program on three stages with complementary identities:

  • The Mainstage: main open-air stage hosting international reggae, dancehall, and ska headliners.
  • The Nutty Jungle: immersive stage in the heart of a tropical jungle setting, dedicated to dub, electro-dub, and sound systems.
  • The OFF stage: discovery space highlighting emerging artists and local talents.

Over 50 artists performed there for four days, offering a complete panorama of Jamaican music and its contemporary hybridizations.

A musical summer camp

The atmosphere of Summer Vibration was that of a true musical summer camp. The festival site, nestled in a green setting along the Ill river, invited relaxation and sharing: hammocks, chill-out areas, craft market, awareness workshops, and short-circuit catering contributed to an immersive and benevolent experience.

Strong values

True to the spirit of reggae, Summer Vibration upheld values of solidarity, eco-responsibility, and living together: waste sorting, reusable cups, dry toilets, local and organic food, affordable pricing, and family welcome.

And today? The Z51 Fest

Since 2025, the adventure continues in Sélestat in another form with the Z51 Fest, organized by the same Zone51 association at Tanzmatten. The 2026 edition is announced from July 17 to 19, 2026, with a reggae/dub day on Saturday. However, this is a distinct event from the historical Summer Vibration, more intimate and multi-aesthetic.

Summer Vibration — edition 2026

ℹ️ No 2026 edition of Summer Vibration. The Summer Vibration Reggae Festival held its last edition in 2023. No 2026 edition of this festival will take place: the Zone51 association has replaced the event with the Z51 Fest, a human-sized festival announced from July 17 to 19, 2026, at Tanzmatten in Sélestat (with a reggae/dub day on Saturday).

ℹ️ 2026 edition non-existent — festival stopped after 2023.

The large Summer Vibration Reggae Festival (4 days, up to 30,000 festival-goers, three stages) has not been held since 2023. After an absence in 2024, the organizing association Zone51 confirmed in 2025 the cessation of the event in this format. In its place, Zone51 now organizes the Z51 Fest, a distinct, more intimate festival (2,000 people per day, two stages) and multi-aesthetic (reggae, dub, but also punk, rap, electro, hip-hop). The 2026 edition of the Z51 Fest is announced from July 17 to 19, 2026, at Tanzmatten in Sélestat, with Saturday, July 18, dedicated to reggae and dub. However, this is not the historical Summer Vibration.
