Temps des Mômes: Dance for the Little Ones in the Spotlight

Temps des Mômes is a unique event in the cultural landscape of the Basque Country: a biennale of dance entirely dedicated to young audiences, born from the desire to share choreographic art with the youngest spectators. Under the artistic direction of choreographer Thierry Malandain, director of the Malandain Ballet Biarritz and the National Choreographic Center, this festival has become a model for cultural mediation through dance.

A Program Designed for Children

Each edition of Temps des Mômes offers a curated selection of dance performances for children aged 3 and up. The invited companies—from all over France and sometimes beyond—reinvent their repertoire for young audiences, creating pieces that blend movement, music, poetry, and imagination. The result is a choreographic bestiary that delights children and accompanying adults alike.

The Colisée and the Théâtre des Chimères

The festival takes place in two emblematic venues in Biarritz:

• Le Colisée: The main performance hall of the Gare du Midi, an ideal setting for major choreographic works.
• Le Théâtre des Chimères: A more intimate space, perfect for close-up performances with young audiences.

The Little Brother of Le Temps d'Aimer

Temps des Mômes is designed as the young audience version of the prestigious festival Le Temps d'Aimer la Danse, held every September in Biarritz. This connection guarantees the same artistic standards and the same ambition to introduce the richness of contemporary dance to all audiences, including the youngest.

A Biennial Event

Temps des Mômes is held every two years, in February, creating an anticipated winter event for families on the Basque Coast. This biennial nature allows for the preparation of high-quality programming and the renewal of artistic offerings at each edition.
