The jazz event of the Basque Coast between stage and open air
Since 2008, the Anglet Jazz Festival has been setting the rhythm for the musical comeback on the Basque Coast with jazz and improvised music. Initially created under the name "Jazz sur l'herbe" by the association Arcad, this open-air musical picnic gradually transformed into a true jazz festival, supported since 2014 by the association Clef de Jazz.
The festival spans four days, combining two complementary formats. From Thursday to Saturday evening, the Théâtre Quintaou, Anglet's iconic performance venue, hosts three evenings of double concerts. Spectators can discover various ensembles in an ideal acoustic setting. On Sunday, the festival returns to its roots with the "Jazz sur l'herbe" day at Parc de Baroja, a green setting where the public can enjoy a free open-air musical picnic.
Each edition offers a panorama of contemporary jazz, from vocal jazz to Latin jazz, including gypsy jazz and improvised music. The festival showcases both established artists and emerging talents, with ensembles ranging from trios to big bands. Jam sessions at the Écuries de Baroja extend the evenings in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The Anglet Jazz Festival contributes to the cultural influence of the city of Anglet and the Basque Country agglomeration. By offering a quality program in emblematic venues of the town, the festival participates in the animation of the cultural season and attracts a loyal audience each year, mixing locals and visitors from the Basque Coast.
The Anglet Jazz Festival returns in September 2026 for a new edition at the Théâtre Quintaou and Parc de Baroja. As every year, the festival will offer three evenings of double concerts followed by an "Jazz sur l'herbe" open-air day.
The full program will be unveiled in the summer of 2026 on the festival's official website.
