Espaces Pluriels: Dance, Theatre, and Circus at the Heart of Pau

Since 1993, Espaces Pluriels has established itself as a major player in the cultural scene of Pau and Béarn. Labeled a national interest conventioned stage for art and creation in dance by the Ministry of Culture, this institution offers a multidisciplinary program each season, blending contemporary dance, theatre, and circus arts, with constant artistic excellence and a permanent concern for accessibility.

An Artistic Project Rooted in the Territory

The project of Espaces Pluriels is based on the conviction that the performing arts are an essential vector for meeting, sharing, and reflection. The programming is designed to reach all audiences: families, schoolchildren, regular theatergoers, and newcomers alike. Each season features large-scale performances on the Foirail stage, intimate creations at the Théâtre Saragosse, and site-specific proposals in Pau's public spaces.

National and International Renowned Artists

Over the seasons, Espaces Pluriels has hosted leading choreographers, directors, and circus artists. The 2025-2026 season is no exception to this ambition, notably featuring Alice Laloy and her grand show Le Ring de Katharsy, Tiphaine Raffier and her futuristic fiction France-fantôme, the company Gandini Juggling with Heka, blending juggling and magic, and choreographer Sylvain Huc, the season's guest artist, who will present his new creation La vie nouvelle in 2026.

A Season Rich in Events

The season runs from September to May, with about twenty performances scheduled. Various events—workshops, artist encounters, screenings, post-show talks—punctuate the program, fostering dialogue between audiences and creators. The Collectif Ès returns to Pau in February 2026 for a show dedicated to Lambada, while other proposals explore the boundaries between dance, performance, and visual arts.

Iconic Performance Venues

Espaces Pluriels primarily uses two complementary venues: the Théâtre Saragosse, an intimate hall converted into a theater in 1985 and acquired by the City of Pau in 2003, and the Foirail, a modular space capable of hosting large-scale productions. These two venues offer high-quality technical facilities for artists and an immersive experience for spectators.

A Commitment to Cultural Democratization

True to its mission as a conventioned stage, Espaces Pluriels develops numerous outreach and awareness activities for schoolchildren, associations, and residents of Pau's neighborhoods. Affordable ticket prices, school performances, and artistic practice workshops contribute to making this venue an open space for everyone.

Espaces Pluriels — edition 2026

The 2026-2027 season of Espaces Pluriels will continue its mission as a national interest conventioned stage, offering a new multidisciplinary program combining dance, theatre, and circus at the Théâtre Saragosse and Le Foirail in Pau.

2026-2027 Season

Espaces Pluriels is preparing its 2026-2027 season, which will be unveiled in the summer of 2026. As every year, the program will feature leading artists in contemporary dance, theatre, and circus arts, with new creations, revivals, and site-specific proposals in Pau's public spaces.
