Bobigny (93) On hold

About Terres de Hip-Hop

Terre(s) Hip-Hop was the rap and urban cultures festival organized by Canal 93, Bobigny's contemporary music venue in Seine-Saint-Denis. Launched in 2011 to revive the golden age of Bobigny hip-hop after the end of the XXL festival, it highlighted various currents of French-speaking rap and revealed emerging talents from the region. The festival, organized annually (generally in spring), brought together established artists and rising voices around concerts, open mics, and meetings. Since the mid-2010s, its festival format has ceased: Canal 93 transformed the event into "Terre Hip Hop Contest", a system for identifying and supporting emerging talents (open mics, showcases) rather than a festival in its own right.

ℹ️ Festival on hold in this format. At the time of our editorial verification (June 2026), no edition of the Terre(s) Hip-Hop festival is announced. The event, organized by Canal 93 in Bobigny, was transformed in the mid-2010s into "Terre Hip Hop Contest", a system for open mics and talent scouting. Canal 93 remains an active urban music venue, but no longer programs a festival under the name Terre(s) Hip-Hop. This page is kept as an archive of the event.

Terre(s) Hip-Hop: rap at Canal 93, in the cradle of French hip-hop

Terre(s) Hip-Hop was one of the significant rap events in Seine-Saint-Denis. Organized by Canal 93, Bobigny's contemporary music venue focused on the artistic practices of young people in the area, the festival naturally took its place in one of the historical cradles of French hip-hop.

Created in 2011 to revive the Bobigny rap scene after the XXL festival ended, it offered an annual program dedicated to France's most listened-to genre, mixing headliners and aspiring artists.

A program focused on all currents of rap

Over the editions, Terre(s) Hip-Hop hosted major names from the French-speaking rap and hip-hop scene — La Fouine, Kery James, Diam's, Sniper, Grand Corps Malade, 113, Youssoupha, Black M, Georgio, S. Pri Noir, L'Hexaler, among others — while reserving an important place for emerging artists through its open mics and showcases.

Seine-Saint-Denis, the festival's breeding ground

The 93 has given French rap some of its biggest names. In Bobigny, Canal 93 has made this territory, rich in dancers, graffiti artists, and rappers, an anchor point for urban cultures. Terre(s) Hip-Hop celebrated this heritage while opening the door to the voices of tomorrow.

From a festival to a talent scouting program

Since the mid-2010s, Canal 93 has evolved the event: the festival format has given way to the "Terre Hip Hop Contest", open mics and support for emerging talents in rap, beatbox, beatmaking, and DJing, particularly within the framework of the Hip-Hop Dev 93 program conducted with the City of Bobigny and the department's cultural actors.

Terres de Hip-Hop — edition 2026

ℹ️ No 2026 edition. No edition of the Terre(s) Hip-Hop festival is announced for 2026. The event, organized by Canal 93 in Bobigny, no longer takes place in its festival format: it was transformed in the mid-2010s into "Terre Hip Hop Contest" (open mics and talent scouting). To follow Canal 93's rap and hip-hop programming, visit canal93.com.

ℹ️ 2026 edition cancelled — festival halted in its historical format. At the time of our editorial verification (June 2026), no public source (Canal 93, City of Bobigny, Est Ensemble, press) announces a 2026 edition of the Terre(s) Hip-Hop festival. Canal 93, the venue that organized the festival, now programs open mics and a talent support system ("Terre Hip Hop Contest", Hip-Hop Dev 93) rather than a festival. This entry is kept as an archive.
