Urban cultures festival in Laval
Urban Made Ouest is Laval's urban culture festival, organized by the Made Up Production label. Created in 2022 by French-Guinean producer Mohamed Camara, also known as MINOSS, the event brings together several artists and DJs every autumn at the Salle Polyvalente for an evening blending hip-hop, rap, dancehall, afrobeats, and dance. A platform for cultural exchange between France and Guinea, the festival also offers showcases, interactive workshops, and live graffiti demonstrations.
Born in 2022 on the initiative of the label Made Up Production, Urban Made Ouest has quickly established itself as a flagship event for urban cultures in Mayenne and Western France. Founded by Mohamed Lamine Camara, aka MINOSS, a Franco-Guinean producer and artist, the festival is driven by an ambitious vision: to create a cultural bridge between France, Guinea, and the rest of Africa through music and urban arts.
Every autumn, the Salle Polyvalente de Laval, located at Place de Hercé, transforms into a temple of urban cultures. The festival brings together established artists and emerging talents from France, Guinea, and elsewhere on the same stage, in a program mixing hip-hop, rap, R&B, dancehall, afrobeats, and world music. The main evening, which starts at 8 PM, offers the Laval and Mayenne public an intense and festive musical experience.
Since its creation, the festival has continued to grow:
Urban Made Ouest is not limited to music. The festival offers a complete program of cultural and sports activities: dynamic showcases, interactive workshops in hip-hop dance and beatmaking, live graffiti demonstrations, and a social cohesion football match organized in the morning at the Hilard stadium with US Laval. These activities strengthen the event's local roots and promote intergenerational exchanges.
One of the unique aspects of Urban Made Ouest is its intercultural dimension. The festival makes it a point of honor to program Guinean and African artists alongside French artists, creating a unique meeting space between the music scenes of the two continents. This openness reflects the very identity of its founder, MINOSS, who advocates for greater visibility for African artists in France and Europe.
With steadily increasing attendance since its first edition, Urban Made Ouest contributes to the cultural influence of Laval and the Mayenne region. The festival attracts a young and diverse audience from across the department and beyond, to experience an exceptional evening dedicated to urban cultures in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
The 5th edition of Urban Made Ouest is confirmed for Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Salle Polyvalente de Laval (Place de Hercé). Following the success of the 4th edition featuring Black M, the urban culture festival returns for a new evening blending rap, hip-hop, afrobeats, and contemporary music, with established and emerging artists. Ticketing is open on Weezevent; the detailed program will be announced on the official website and the festival's social media channels.
