Festival of mixed jazz at the Théâtre du Vésinet
The Vésinet Jazz Métis Festival is the annual meeting place for jazz lovers in the west of Paris. Born in 2015 in its current form, heir to the Vésinet Jazz Piano Festival, this event has established itself as a musical melting pot where jazz, world music, funk, soul, and Latin music meet. Every May, the Théâtre du Vésinet hosts international artists for several evenings, exploring all facets of mixed jazz. The bold and demanding programming brings together major figures of the genre with emerging talents from the global jazz scene, offering the public of Vésinet and the Île-de-France region concerts of rare intensity in the intimate setting of this Italian-style theater.
Every spring, the Théâtre du Vésinet transforms into a crossroads of world jazz for the Vésinet Jazz Métis Festival. Founded in 2015, the festival extends and enriches the legacy of the Vésinet Jazz Piano Festival by broadening its musical palette to global sounds: Afro-Cuban jazz, Latin jazz, gypsy jazz, funk, soul, Klezmer music, and afrobeat make up a vibrant and cosmopolitan program.
Over the years, the festival has hosted leading artists such as John Scofield, Roberto Fonseca, Lisa Simone, Seun Kuti, Dhafer Youssef, Harold Lopez-Nussa, David Krakauer, Airelle Besson, Naissam Jalal, and the San Francisco Jazz Collective. Each evening is designed as a musical journey, where traditions intersect and stylistic boundaries blur in favor of a lively, generous, and resolutely world-oriented jazz.
The Théâtre du Vésinet, a 450-seat Italian-style theater nestled in the heart of the classified garden city, offers rare proximity between artists and spectators. This human scale gives the concerts a special warmth and intensity, far from impersonal large stages. The town of Vésinet, known for its exceptional landscape heritage with its lakes, lawns, and Belle Époque villas, provides an enchanting setting for this spring festival.
Supported by the municipality of Vésinet and the Department of Yvelines, the Vésinet Jazz Métis Festival actively contributes to the cultural influence of western Paris. The festival also offers meetings with artists and awareness-raising activities for schoolchildren, affirming its mission of transmission and sharing around jazz.
The 11th edition of the Vésinet Jazz Métis Festival returns to the Théâtre du Vésinet in May 2026. The program, true to the festival's mixed spirit, will bring together artists of jazz, world music, and global music for several evenings of concerts.
The Vésinet Jazz Métis Festival returns for its eleventh edition at the Théâtre du Vésinet in May 2026. The full program will be announced in the spring. The festival will continue its mission to create a dialogue between jazz, world music, funk, and soul in the intimate setting of the Théâtre du Vésinet.
