The Automne Jazz festival was born in 2016 on the initiative of the Marne et Gondoire agglomeration community, with the aim of offering residents of the territory a quality musical event, accessible to all and free. Since its creation, the festival has committed to programming top international artists while maintaining free admission by reservation, a rare model in the French jazz festival landscape.

The first edition, held from October 11 to 16, 2016, brought together more than fifty artists and musicians from France, the United States, Switzerland, Argentina, Mali, and Venezuela, immediately laying the groundwork for a globally oriented event.

A traveling festival at the heart of the territory

One of Automne Jazz's unique features is its traveling nature: concerts take place in several towns within the Marne et Gondoire territory, allowing each town to host an evening and participate in the festival's cultural dynamic. The concert venues vary by edition: municipal halls in Lagny-sur-Marne, Chalifert, Collégien, and especially the magnificent Parc culturel de Rentilly - Michel Chartier, a departmental estate whose contemporary castle and landscaped park offer an exceptional setting for concerts.

The cinema Le Cinq in Lagny-sur-Marne is a loyal partner of the festival, hosting a cine-jazz screening each year that features a film or documentary related to the world of jazz, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

Ten years of jazz for everyone

In October 2025, Automne Jazz celebrated its 10th edition, confirming the sustainability and success of this unique event in Île-de-France. From October 7 to 12, 2025, the festival offered a rich program combining major concerts, cine-jazz, and shows for young audiences, with musicians from around the world.

The commitment to total free admission remains the pillar of the festival: all events are accessible free of charge, by simple reservation (maximum 4 tickets per person), at the Marne et Gondoire tourist office or online. This model attracts a diverse audience, from seasoned enthusiasts to curious newcomers, and introduces jazz to new audiences.

A commitment to discovery and transmission

Automne Jazz places great importance on young audiences, with concerts specifically designed for children and families. The festival also offers meetings with artists and opportunities for exchange that enrich the musical experience and contribute to the transmission of jazz culture.
